Beautiful work. Been working on Guards Armored myself and do like the PSC Shermans (15mm). One question though. Is there any rhyme or reason to placement of the Squadron symbols? I have many pictures of them, on Guards Armored tanks, on the side of the turret but also a fair number of them with the markings on the hull side instead. We are talking 44-45 Northwest Europe of course. |

Marc3359, Thanks. Seems to vary a bit from my quick look around. The only source I have is the D-Day Armor Camouflage & Markings by Terry Wise. Theres another around called Warpaint but haven't got that yet myself. I'm more of German type as a rule so have to do more research before I do more Brits. L |

Three books I can recommend without hesitation, all are in the Concord Pulbications "Armor at War Series" #7062 British Sherman Tanks by Dennis Oliver #7068 British Armor in Sicily and Italy by Dennis Oliver #7069 British Armor in North-West Europe: Volume 1. Normandy to Arnhem by Dennis Oliver |

I just finished off 3 Fireflys and 6 Shermans myself. I did a fair amount of internet research to determine marking locations. Your right Marc, there seemed to be variations in them. However from my understanding the official squadron markings were on the turret, and sometimes rear hull. I would venture to guess that as the war went on and crews welded track links to the turret side, then markings went on the hull. |

wrgmr1, Methinks you've summed it up nicely was kinda the message I got from a very quick loo around so nice to have it confirmed by someone who has done some reading. L |

Well some of it makes sense. For example the Coldstream Guard who had the rockets affixed to the turret had their squadron markings on the hull. And for some other units have seen the squadron marking repeated on the front transmission cover or even the rear. Makes for some variety! |

Marc, Don't you just hate 'variety' lol 'Clearly defined areas of doubt and uncertainty' ( D Adams) is what we need or not! L ps Anyone know of a good Staghound in 20mm? Dubious about the RMP one as its going to take some work to make it correct apparently. |

Leon, after 25 year on active duty I found out uniform is anything but :) But seriously, once again, beautiful work. Easily mistaken for 1/35th scale. |
