It may be worth thinking about what we have truly lost in the last few days. Elsewhere I talked about decoherence, Schroedinger's cat, wave function collapsing, the observer effect etc.

But forget quantum physics

Forget that this appeared on the Napoleonic Gallery and then "timed out" when cross posting. (What does that mean anyway?)

I have just discovered the answer to cold fusion…it came just after the Theory of Everything, as I was leaving the pub, after today's draw against Man Utd…this is my last chance to post it. The answer to absolutely everything is on a Mamelukes post, but never appeared. Funny thing is, every time I remember how to overcome entropy and all the laws of Physics, the Topic records another posting, it goes back to the top….but there is nothing new there. By tomorrow, I will have forgotten.

Let us express sympathy for our poor editor……

Go on. What have you lost? Do share with us………..bayonet fighting?
That Netherlands Campaign from 1814?

What did we lose in 48 hours? I lost loads on Napoleonic bands and what instruments they actually played.

But can we continue now or must wait? Are we secure or data losses may rise?

Personal logo deadhead Supporting Member of TMP13 Mar 2016 1:04 p.m. PST

Are you a philosopher or a physicist?

Data losses are guaranteed. We all know about back up of our own data. The tragedy for me is what I have lost from the responses of others. Scharnachthal produced some great stuff on instruments used in Napoleonic bands. Well researched, great interest to me (so I saved it all) but lost to all out there.

Are we secure?

Wow……now you are getting profound

The safe answer is no…never

The answer is, as always, 42 the number of hours of the problem. But, hold fast to the sticking place and all will be well and all manner of things will be well.

And I must royally to bed to sleep off the rubbish I have just said.

Mako1113 Mar 2016 2:41 p.m. PST

Yea, I feel bad for Bill.

No doubt a lot of extra hours and stress, due to some dolt who gets off on posting inappropriate photos on a miniatures gaming website.

Would be nice if he/she could be found, and sued for all the trouble, and work caused, but I suspect it wouldn't be worth it financially, which is a pity.

60 minutes of sleep for me, in the last 24 hours. May have to take a nap to address that.

Steady Ol Chap, Stiff upper eh! There will always be an England and we did beat the Froggies at Waterloo and all that, this can never never be snatched away as much as those Belgium types will try. So three cheers for Her Majesty and a pint to soothe I say:)

Here Here Zargon…hoist a pint to moving forward!

I have to agree with Terrement …

We've lost more than posts.

I think many here have also lost their perspective.

As I said on another thread. A lot of "drama" for a site about grown men playing with toy soldiers. And it comes not only from external drive by Trolls but internal Trolls with actual real memberships as well, etc. …

Bohdan Khmelnytskij13 Mar 2016 4:57 p.m. PST

I read it was all the Germans who won at Waterloo, but given all the markers I saw when I was on the battlefield, looks like the French won.

Cosmic Reset13 Mar 2016 5:04 p.m. PST

Everything is, as it was meant to be.

Embrace the "is".

To do otherwise is futile.

basileus6613 Mar 2016 11:32 p.m. PST

What happened? I've been out of the loop for a few days…

basileus6614 Mar 2016 4:45 a.m. PST

Bleeped text! Poor Bill! I feel for him.

agreed…….

This is a marvellous forum and quite unique.

Old Wolfman14 Mar 2016 7:26 a.m. PST

Ran into that problem last Friday here. Glad to see everything's getting back on again. Good work.

GeoffQRF14 Mar 2016 8:17 a.m. PST

Give it a week or so and you know the same topics will come around again :-)

Personal logo deadhead Supporting Member of TMP14 Mar 2016 10:55 a.m. PST

What?

How short was Napoleon? What is a bricole anyway ?(beyond a length of rope). How did the Guards arrange the Kings and Regt colours? Was Soult a traitor? Is a bayonet a nasty thing to face? Were the Prussians even on the field as DoW waved his hat to advance the line? These kinds of topics………yes……you are right.

We will go back to personal abuse, claims of lack of any sources, misquotes etc etc.

It is all good fun

What hacks me off is that even some titles have now gone.

There was summat like "Dismounted French Hussars" which appeared as a title, but never got beyond the blank stage. So now it is censored completely…..it is like 1984 (Winston would know)…it never existed.

Who cares? Nothing we can do

But here is a list of just some "frozen sites". Folk have tried to comment, they do not add to the total of responses, yet the topic records another posting…whilst remaining blank. What is really annoying is what is lost as new topics……….as though they never appeared. Nobody's fault

So frustrating when folk are still commenting on things I have posted, but their response never appears in the end, so I cannot reply. I do apologise for any discourtesy!

WTF?

Coyotepunc and Hatshepsuut14 Mar 2016 8:04 p.m. PST

I've lost some use of my left arm and left leg. I have also lost a great deal of perspective due to a wicked onset of PTSD.

A TMP data loss is very low on my list of losses; the inability to use the site properly did however give me the extra time to start an icky Alliance night elf warrior and have managed to level to 20something already.

Hafen von Schlockenberg14 Mar 2016 8:21 p.m. PST

Sorry to hear,it rabbit. Hope you're doing OK now?

Bashytubits14 Mar 2016 9:40 p.m. PST

1968billsfan15 Mar 2016 2:00 a.m. PST

Obviously, this is an American political issue, with postings and emails appearing and disappearing from servers. Watch what you post. The NSA, CIA and YDKA is watching !!!

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP15 Mar 2016 7:14 a.m. PST

Best wishes Punkrabbit ! All the best ! Hang in there ! thumbs up

Aberrant15 Mar 2016 3:53 p.m. PST

Punkrabbit,

I am very sorry to hear that; PTSD is a terrible thing and I do hope that you are receiving professional support for it.
