Added some more Russians to my SYW collection. Figures are from Front Rank and flags from GMB designs.

You can never have too many Russian infantry. And very nicely done they are too.

Where did you get the info for yellow flag cords? The only info I have on them is in the Ospreys (Osprey aren't always 100% reliable in every period, so can't vouch for accuracy) where they are white, but then Osprey also shows brown and white flag poles, whereas Kronoskaf has most (all?) as red. Please tell me I don't have to re-do the flag cords on this lot!

Also, the foundry figs in just small clothes, are much quicker to paint and might be worth a look if you have lots to do, especially the ones in blue rain capes too. A top tip for doing Russians quickly IMHO.

Thank you very much everyone for your support!

@olicana

Thank you James and no need to worry about redoing anything as the gold braided cords are artistic licence on my part as are the parade ground white gaiters. If you go to my blog and click into the Seven Years War you will see a Foundry Russian regiment that I did. As you say a real pleasure to paint up. I'll be doing a mix of Front Rank and Foundry SYW regiments albeit I will not mix the two in the same units because of the size differences.
Oh and btw I've enjoyed your blog immensely for some time now.

@Axebreaker great work, very inspirational!

@olicana, jealous! Stunning as usual James.

Looking forward to getting my 10mm SYW project on the go but have League of Augsburg to finish first! lol

Please keep up the work guys, it really inspires!

Hi Christopher,

I know what you mean about licence, these small details quite often require it. I always thought white cords with yellow flag fringe was odd, but the Prussian cords are similar regardless of button colour, and are 'flat streamers' rather than cords.

It all gets very confusing. I have no idea if I'm right or wrong on this kind of thing because sources, or lack of, vary.

C'est la vie Christopher, your units look superb but now, as the gym master said, give me 20 more!

Best Regards,

James

Oh, a P.S. edit. White gaiters are a must. It's the best way to spot the Observation Corps in black dragoon boots. I'm with you all the way on that one.

Beautiful!

I always assumed the Prussian streamers were supposed to represent the officer sashes…I would not be surprised if the Russian cords were painted gold to resemble the national sash color.
