I'm looking at the possibility of taking a card based war game I have developed representing the British Corps experience of the first day of the Somme to a point where I can sell it commercially.
What is the best way to move this forward? Assuming its of a quality is it best to go it alone or find an existing company to partner with? If so what companies out there are happy to look at taking games forward? Has anyone had any experience of this?

Depends on what you view your final product as.

If it is printed rules, pdf option and sets of cards then you can DIY with the likes of Wargames Vault and/or Amazon Createspace. There's even the various kickstarter platforms.

If you want a full boxed game then you will need a partner who can help with manufacturing a print run and all the costs that this entails.

Either option pre-supposes you already have rules that are well written and laid out etc etc.

The real issue is marketing and after sales support. If you would like to discuss this further feel free to email me.

Wargames vault. They do cards.
You get 65% of the sales, you own the stuff ( not necessarily if it is published the trad way) and… It is never out of print.
And
You don't have to store, send etc.
Gloria to the 21 st century.

99% of the time you have to do your own marketing any way.

Hi Martin

I will do that thanks for your reply

I'm looking at a sort of PDF print and laminate your own cards set up rather then a box set – I don't think kickstarter – its does the job of getting the word out there but I think in this context it wont help anymore than that.
I have a working game and plans to expand it, so a simple set up and sell sort of thing, if that works?
