There used to be a great website – stunning actually – where a guy from France, of course, had a huge 15mm French HYW army on display, with superbly hand-painted heraldry on the figures. I was looking on-line, and can't seem to find it, probably because I can't recall the French name for knights (I tried gendarme too), or am using other incorrect search words in Google Images. The website was interactive, and by hovering with a mouse over certain sections of the pics, you'd see more detailed closeups of the figures as well. He had both mounted knights, and matching foot figures to go with them, as well as lots of other troops types, artillery, etc. to round out his army. IIRC, I think there were even identifiers for the names of the individual knights too, since they were based on the real coats of arms of historical figures. Anyone know what I'm talking about, and perhaps have a link to it? I lost it when my last PC crashed, and would like to view his figs again as inspiration for my painting. |

Ah, finally found them, but took a lot of searching. Turns out I was half right – the guy is of French ancestry, but lives here in the USA. Definitely worth a look, if you want some inspiration for painting 15mm Medieval minis – there are matching foot figure bases to go with the mounted knight stands (based for DBM, but will probably work for DBA as well: link Anyone seen anything similar for English, German, Burgundian, or medieval / renaissance Italian Wars knights or gendarmes for the 1400s, or early 1500s, in any scale? |

Not sure if you've seen it, but this guy has some great setups: warin15mm.com/Medieval-.html I have three DBM armies, each is between 150-200 stands. I have an Early Imperial Roman, Scots Common, and Feudal/WotR English. I've been meaning to do some army full army pictures of them, maybe I'll get around to it this month. Also have it in the works to recreate the battle scenes of Stirling Bridge and Bannockburn some time. |
