I haven't had much luck in finding an answer to whether or not Spanish Genitors carried any sort of Banner or Flag with them. I'm guessing not but does anyone know for sure. Thanks! |

Well the one who comes into my office at night just has a big grubby white rag. (sorry, it's Friday evening, been a long week, so I'm on the delicious cappuccino stout already … back to the serious answers …) |

If all else fails I'll use your suggestion. :-) |

I doubt that information is available on that. If genitors were a part of a retinue or a feudal contingent they could have some kind of cavalry flag, to rally and such. Common practice for light cavalry. Even Greeks mention small flags for cavalry. Say, don Pedro's flag was red and white with an eagle and a castle gate simbols. Simple red and white flag for his genitors would be plausable. Probably much smaller than don Pedro's great banner that he uses for his lancer elites. |

The only thing I've seen are little pennons attached to the tips of their lances, but I admit to knowing far less than I'd like on the subject. Perhaps try a search in Google images to see if you can come up with some drawings, paintings, or more details in the links attached to them. |

Thanks. I've done a google search but the images have been more period paintings that don't show that or reenactors who don't have anything and the written historical data is sketchy at best. I am leaning towards the small pennons. |

I don't know in Spain, but, apparently in Italy the pennons were not in use. The reason being they were too costly! It was cheaper to paint the lances themselves… just my 2 eurocents This should not stop you in using them, of course! :D |
