For those who have played it, can you give me your opinions? Rules, Price, variety of minis, rules updates etc etc. Thanks Moe |

Not a big fan myself, but i seem to be in the minority. I need morale rules to consider a game, so their absence killed it for me. Also the models, while fantastic, are too expensive for me unfortunately. |

I only played twice, and that was with someone teaching the game, so take this with a grain of salt: I liked the game. The concept of having dropships be a core mechanic was really neat. I dunno if it'd get old if you played it every week, maybe? The rules seemed workhorse. Nothing too exceptional, nothing bad either. As I said, I was shown the game rather than reading myself, so I don't know if anything was left out or changed. Mini's are fantastic looking, but 10mm means you'll have less chances for substituting if you like. I have never seen it played at the local store unfortunately, and I don't see any shops stocking it :/ |

I've played the game a few times and have really enjoyed each time. You can modify the missions so they are more traditional than just scenarios built around drop ships. Mr. Portner described it well in his comment. The minis are beautiful and the game plays very well. It's easy to learn and easy to pick up on the tactics. The minis are not the cheapest out there but I think you are paying for superb quality. |

Ah okay, that wasn't clear from when I played it. In that case, no reservations at all other than price I suppose, and that's relative for everyone. :) I do agree, as far as the scale goes, they are some of the best you'll get. |

I really like the game myself. The rules aren't anything ground breaking until you use them with the armies. Then you see the genius of them. It really is one of those games, and most games are this way, that you don't know what is going on from just reading them. You need to play them with the armies in the way they set it up. I'm not saying you couldn't proxy in some stuff but you need to have armour, AA, drop ships and infantry in your game to play the game properly. I was not impressed when I played it only using infantry and armour, when that is what I had. But when you add the dropships and the AA it becomes a very complex game with many tactical problems to solve. The figures are beautiful and mostly fairly easy to paint. They don't seem too expensive to me. Some are a little up there but for the most part the plastic starter sets have really brought the activation energy to getting into the game way down. |

Mini's are fantastic looking, but 10mm means you'll have less chances for substituting if you like. Well, I have a fair number of old B5 Groppos that might have looked okay, but I think Pictors has put a bit of kibosh on that idea. Seriously, thanks for making that clear! Doug |

I liked the game. The concept of having dropships be a core mechanic was really neat. I dunno if it'd get old if you played it every week, maybe? Can you get tired of playing Vietnam games with all the helicopters? At least that seems to be a similar concept for me. |

That's why I'm working on a rules set where you can mix and match minis from all over. |

Just reading into this now. It sounds A LOT more fluid than other games. Apparently your dropships can pick up, move drop off in one turn. I remember perhaps incorrectly that Epic had you taking a turn for each of these actions meaning there was no hudge advantage to loading your marines on a rhino for fast reactions. |

"I remember perhaps incorrectly that Epic had you taking a turn for each of these actions meaning there was no hudge advantage to loading your marines on a rhino for fast reactions." I do think that is correct. So that makes Dirtside 2 middle place here, as landing a dropship/carrier takes 1/2 a movement and action, and taking off is half a movement and action. |

In Epic Armageddon you can move your transport (ground or flyers) pick up units in the way, move again and drop them off, all in one order/turn. |

Okay so I got the rules but will use other figs I think. |

Figs nice but way too costly. The cost kept folks here from jumping in. Will use some for PolyV, but only because local shop made me an offer. Rules ok, but Nodal Wars and PolyV look so much better. |
