Put up a post on my blog re: having reached the halfway point in process of scratchbuilding a 28mm version of the above entrehched camp, for use in my "What If?" Winter 1841-42 "Bala Hissar or Bust!" scenario.

It's still a Work In Progress, so sadly no finished product, shiny or otherwise, as of yet, but I have made some progress, as seen in these teaser pics:

Sweet! Really like the planking. Well done.

very well done and I like the Flashman figure!

I like the way you staggered the floor planking for a more realistic look.

Thanks very much for the positive comments, guys!

I did try to "dirty up" the woodwork with bits of filler, some scattered bits of sand and small pebbles, a few pieces of broken wood, and also by adding visible signs of "wear and tear" to the planks themselves. When the time comes to paint I'm hoping that work will pay off via dry-brushing.

@Oh B*gger: for better and/or worse, I suppose you are correct, sir!

Bought a set of tiny dollhouse hinges at my local Hobby Shop today, so I can start work on the wooden gateway with a pair of swinging doors.

Another awesome custom build by the Mad Guru. I really like the effect of the uneven planking. It has a very genuine and authentic feel to it. I've been lucky enough to play on (2) of your awesome tables, shall we try for 3!!!???

Great job buddy, looking forward to the finished product. Please keep posting the WIP posts as it helps to motivate me with my own meager projects.

Cheers,
JB

Beautiful work as always, Guru! It will be fun to watch your progress with these.

(Hope all's well!)

Ethan, I think you need to post pictures of your gate for these fine folks to oogle over! I know I did.

Cheers,

Jeff, thanks, you are too kind, my friend!

I am inching closer to finishing the build of the cantonment and promise to post again when I'm done. Then I'll still have to paint it… and decide how to deal with the SNOW: To snow or not to snow?* That will be the question…

*Permanently, that is. Either I model the snow onto the terrain pieces or I leave them to match the rest of my Afghan terrain and just scatter model snow on it for the Winter 1841 scenario.

Better late than never. I finally found that illustration of a British cantonment. Sorry it's such poor quality. Hope it helps. Of course the Kabul cantonment wouldn't have been so lush.
