Hi, I am putting together a Naval Campaign simulating a break out of the Soviet Baltic Fleet against the German Battle Group which was sent that way with Tirpitz in 41. Air power isn't my strong point and other than there being a specific Naval Air unit in theatre with 600 plus planes I can't seem to find out much about it. Any one have knowledge, details etc, I'm looking for plane types, number and bases for both sides. Many thanks Ken yarkshiregamer.blogspot.co.uk |

Baltic Arena from Clash of Arms will give you all you need to know about this underpublished area of the war. I have found the book fascinating and I don't play their rules. To answer your questions both sides used the old types here; so you will see I 153s and even some ME 109Es. Joe |

Agree with Joe on Baltic Arena--a wealth of information on this theater. |

Ayup Ken there's a bit of a glitch on TMP as I see you've had 3 replies but I can't see them, so this may have been answered. I have a mate who's a proper expert on military history (lucky enough to do a degree in it) and the Baltic and aviation are particular passions. I'm pretty sure he was working on a scenario for allied intervention in the winter war. I'm working down in That London for a month but when I get back up north I'll ask him if he can point you in the right direction (I'm back at work in Sheffield next week). cheers, Nick |

Looks like the bug grabbed this thread. Someone suggested the COAST book Baltic Arena and it's been a great help. Regards Ken |
