Thanks for the links. Concur with your idea for small battles with a little more historical reference as well as the way LOTR inspires great figures and terrain with a taut story line. Fun. |

Yes those links are great thanks. For the RAW rules, in melee, if Veteran against Veteran, do they each roll 3 die, add them to get total or roll 1 dice at a time against each other? |

So for a big game, is there a good set of rules, that will handle armies of 1,000 + figures? Tally Ho! |

LOTR SBG breaks combat ties by comparing the model's Fight Value (high fight value wins); if it is still a tie then a D6 is rolled to determine the winner. For Heroes, the use of a Might Point can be used to make or break a tie by adding 1 or more points to the roll (to a max value of 6). That means that for two fighters each with one attack, they will each when 15 out of 36 combats with a clear win and the model with the higher fight value will when 21 out of 36 times. For tied fight values, you do the D6 roll 6 out of 36 combats. So for a Character like Aragorn with 3 attacks (rolls 3D6 rolls), plus high Fight and lots of Might he is pretty hard to defeat, but it is possible if his opponent rolls high and Aragorn rolls three low numbers. Even the mighty Aragon may not have enough Might to flip the fight in his favor and may risk a wound. |

Thanks for sharing Catherine. I'm a huge Tolkien aficionado and I'll add these to my project bookmarks. Played a scenario of Dux Britanniarum using LotR miniatures this weekend. Worked quite nicely. I'll cross-post a batrep on these and the fantasy boards sometime this week. Cheers! |
