I just had to air my Medieval swedish collection some time ago so I put on a small Lion Rampant game for me and my Son David.

Instead of counting minis in each unit we counted bases of minis, so a Foot Serjant unit had 12 bases of 4 minis each, 48 minis in a unit. This way of using the Lion rampant rules works fine if you are a bit forgiving about movement etc.

For the game we used just 12 point retinues but still we managed to field about 140 foot and 15 mounted minis on the table. I lured David in to commanding the Danes and I took the heroic Swedish rebells ;)

You can read a bit about our game and see more pictures at my blog.

Best regards Michael

Cool idea for a variations on the rules using the stands. One thing I am considering making a house rule is doing away with the three inch rule between units. I am not sure why it is part of the game. It is the only thing that does not make sense to me in what is otherwise one of the best set of miniature rules I've ever played.

Thank you very much!!!

I think the 3" rule are rather good it gives a clesre view of what minis are in each unit but most of all it gives all units a zone of control so you can protect wounrable units like bowmen with possition like a unit of fot sergeants so the enemy can't attack the bowmen without dealing with the foot serjants first but the bow men can still shoot pass the foot serjants
