There will be a number of Combat Patrol(TM) games at Cold Wars later this month. Don't miss out! While Combat Patrol was written for World War II, note that people are using them for other periods as well.

F327: A Skirmish During the First Boer War
Fri 10:00:00 AM, 4 hrs, 6 Players
GM: David Wood and HAWKS
Period: Colonial, Scale: 25mm
Rules: Combat Patrol: World War II (adapted for Colonial)
It's the first Boer War and the British and close order doesn't work like it did for their previous enemies. Have they learned how to adapt? Players control sections of infantry in this short, sharp engagement. Combat Patrol uses cards to resolve not only activation but combat. This is a very fast, dice-less, and chart-less, but not simplistic, system.

This is a very fast, dice-less, and chart-less, but not simplistic, system. Younger gamers welcome with a participating adult.

December, 1939 -- Forward units of the Soviet army have reached the village of Suomussalmi. Can the Finnish defenders counterattack and drive the Russians out before the main force of their army arrives? Skirmish level game in the frozen north. Knowledge of rules not required.

Battalions formed; lines dressed; banners flying. The drums start and one line begins moving, steadily closing toward the inevitable, violent collision. But before the lines close there is another battle which must be fought first – between the closing lines. Today we fight that battle of light infantry struggling to weaken the enemy's line while protecting its own.

After originally posting a PEL with this game incorrectly listed as Saturday evening, the CW staff posted an update about 10 days later with the correct Friday time.

I registered for The Battle Before the Battle on 1/26 and it was correct at that time. Not sure about any other registrations.
