I recently posted a (free) supplement to Combat Patrol(TM): World War II to play games set in the emerging genre of political unrest and revolution in the UK in the Winter of '79. The supplement does not attempt to expand the back story but merely provides the stats and options rules for Combat Patrol to give it that Winter of Discontent flavor. The supplement is available for a free download on the rules' Web page: link
I am getting a lot of feedback from players of Combat Patrol(TM) for supplements and optional rules for different eras and theaters. For instance, I recently also posted a supplement for the 1939 Winter War. As time permits, I will post more of these supplements. Writing the supplement is relatively straight forward, but it can take weeks or months to do enough research to be able to know what optional rules are needed to provide the right feel for the era, campaign, or theater. The one I am currently working on is for the south Pacific in WWII. I am struggling with the best way to deal with Japanese morale and trying to balance the common gamer and Hollywood mythology with historical fact. I have gotten a number of requests for modern Iraq and Afghanistan as well. The supplements are also available for download from Sally 4th's Web page: link |

JJ: The challenge I will have with Operation Herrick and Operation Tellic and the Falklands is knowing what equipment to include. Herrick and Tellic (and the US involvement) lasted ten+ years. Equipment changed along the way. If someone had a good list of vehicles to include as well as a pointer to a solid ORBAT for company and below, that would be a great jumpstart. I could then research (or make educated guesses where the information is classified) as to the stats of the various vehicles. Conversely, I'd be happy to partner with the right someone on this supplement if the opportunity presented itself. Buck |

Sorry, I was a day late on this one! It was my birthday yesterday and my wife made me leave work at 6:30 before I'd got to bottom of my to-do list! I have just added the download for 'Winter of Discontent' now. Combat PatrolTM provides a comprehensive set of rules for skirmishes set in World War II. This supplement includes rules to update weapons and equipment to late 1970's / early 1980's and provides rules for flak jackets, ATGWs, mounted police, car bombs and command detonated mines together with detailed orbats for British and Soviet infantry platoons. Update: I found someone who is beginning work on a Falklands supplement. We'll probably have that supplement pulled together by the end of March. He also plans to do other British post-WWII campaigns as well. Stand by. Buck |

What other campaigns is he looking at Buck? This is very exciting news. Falkands will be great. I have both sides in 20mm, (will just need to rebase on to single bases) and the figures I'm using for 'Winter of Discontent' in 28mm are basically Falkland era British. |

He is looking to write supplements for the following campaigns: Brunei/Borneo 1962 Aden Emergency 1963-67 Latter part of the Mau Mau uprising 1960ish Indonesian/Malaysia Confrontaition 1963-1965 Dhofar 1962-1975 It is unclear if some will be combined into a single supplement or kept separate. |

Wow… exciting times Buck, and I believe you're working on something for Iraq & Afghan, so anyone who has brought a set of your cards is going to get very good use out of them! |

Thanks Buck. Will certainly help with my Afghanistan game this weekend. Joe |

Yesterday Lewis and I got to play a game of Combat Patrol set in the imaginary 'Winter of 79' world of revolutionary backlash against a right wing establishment. Set in a small mining town in South Wales, Welsh Liberation Forces are expecting the transfer of an arms cache via a transit van in a pub car park. Unfortunately for them elements of A Coy, 10 Para had been dispatched to clear away roadblocks and reassert establishment authority.
