link "There is a plan for an "all-star" remake of the WWII movie "The Battle of Britain," with Robert Towne now working on the script. This is the buzz that has been circulating for three years now but as well all know, it is a long process from concept to the big screen. BUT, in light of four of the Messerschmitt ME-109C4K's (Hispano HA-1112 Buchon's) used in the original 1969 movie having been boxed up and on their way to California where they will be fully restored at Airmotive Specialties – then we guess that things are starting to hot up."
Interesting But wait…. [The four Me190C4Ks]… "were given to stunt pilot Wilson "Connie" Edwards in lieu of payment, along with the Spitfire he flew in the film" What? They gave him five aeroplanes? "I was contracted for six weeks and 11 months later I was still getting shot down. The weather was foul and money tight by the end of filming, so I said, ‘Fine, I'll take the aircraft as IOUs'." Lucky devil :-) By the way… ""Unfortunately there is not going to be a remake of the Battle Of Britain movie. I put something about that on Facebook as a joke and the next thing I knew someone wrote an article to that affect." It appears that all eight Buchon's were sold last year to a Swiss company called Boschung Global. Four (the two-seater, one single seater, and the two project Buchons) were resold to an Australian entity and are apparently en route to the UK where they will be restored and the two seater will operate on a commercial ride program alongside a two-seat Spitfire. The four that Boschung retained will all be restored to airworthy condition. "Boschung then plans to keep one plane in the US, one will be shipped to Switzerland, and the other two will possibly be sold or traded. One of these single seaters s/n 220, was the last fighter that Adolf Galland flew… This plane will be restored and painted just like it was in the movie and will be the plane that Boschung keeps as his personal plane. |

I'm a bit dubious about a remake – to my mind the original is perfect. |

The original wasn't very good. |

The fight scenes are brilliant, the non combat scenes less so. The 'There's no fighter escort' scene is one of my all time favourites. YouTube link |

Thing is, yes it could be remade better, but more likely remade worse. (Think Pearl Harbour). |

Apparently awful lot of good footage ended up on the cutting room floor, and instead a lot of spliced in and repeated/flipped footage used |

I was disappointed by the obvious model Stukas being used, but otherwise it and the soundtrack are among my all time favorites. |

Don't think that the Battle of Britain cannot be remade and done better…then you have not seen this… YouTube link |

Robert Towne is now 81 and hasn't had a writing screen credit since 2000. Also, the 1969 version had an all star cast! I doubt this story is accurate. |

I think BlackJoke has the essence of it. I'd trust HBO more or less on a series, but Hollywood wouldn't be able to resist going all committee on it and deciding it needed more drama and more love interests. |

But who could reprise Susannah York as Section Officer Harvey? |

Stick me down as a +1 for "it *could* be improved upon, but it wouldn't be"…. |

For Hollywood's take on what a new movie would need to be an updated remake, I refer you to "Pearl Harbor". Then tell me we need a remake. |

"Don't you yell at me Mr. Warwick!" Love me some Susannah York. |

I'm with John Armatys on this one. Perfect as it is. I watch it at least 2 times a year. Amazing flying & no CGI. |

Ah yes, Suzannah York. Brings back memories of a girlfriend who I saw daily, dressed in nothing but an RAF Wedgwood Blue SD shirt, tie, stockings and suspenders… Sigh… |
