I posted some pictures from three Combat Patrol(TM): World War II games we played this weekend. One was Finland 1939. Another was France 1940. The final one was a Napoleonic game. Enjoy.

Buck, great looking games. I did not know there was a supplement out. I will look for it. Any idea who makes the aerosans? I like the idea of using Combat Patrol for Napoleonic skirmish also. Are you going to publish that as a supplement, or a whole new game?

Yes, I'm interested in a Napoleonic skirmish version too. How may we find out more?

Bill and Big Red:

Different periods are likely to be covered as variants to the basic rules, published as supplements. At this point, I'm not thinking about putting together a new book or a separate game. The first supplement was Winter War. I am working on something for the UK that talks to applying Combat Patrol to their Winter of '79 genre. I am also working on a supplement for WWII PTO, but that is going to take me some time, since I am reading a couple of books on the period before attempting to write a supplement.

One of the guys in my gaming group had begun adapting Combat Patrol to Napoleonics even before I got the book published. He's made a few changes here and there. For instance, most figure have an Endurance of 2, rather than 3, for Napoleonics. Also, with muskets you have to spend an action to reload between shots. In any event, we haven't worked out cavalry or artillery yet, so it will be some time before this supplement is available.

The idea is that the supplements will be free -- or nearly free -- pdf downloads that are designed to entice people to buy the core rules and decks of cards. The thought is that if there is someone out there who just loves gaming a single period and is looking for a good set of rules, perhaps the period supplement will get them interested in Combat Patrol..

Buck

P.S. The aerosan is from Baker Company in their 28mm Winter War line.

Well three games in one weekend is pretty good going, even for a system as streamlined as Combat Patrol. This system has so much potential for period specefic supplements. I'm looking forward to a supplement for Normandy, Modern Iraq & Afghanistan, VBCW, Vietnam, British retreat from Empire (Aden, Borneo etc)….

Keep up yhe good work, Buck!
