Just wondered whether anyone had played the new PP ECW rules and, if so, what they think of them as they appear to be substantially different to my existing set. Thanks for your time. |

I have played a few games with them but have never played the first edition rules. 2nd ed. uses a grid system so many things are abstracted. They are indeed fast play and and give a fairly reasonable feel for the period. I enjoyed the play I will probably use them to prototype scenarios and when I want a quick set-up and play with friends. I did not use a lot of the pre-game setup procedures working more from scenarios (the scenarios that come with the rules are well thought out IMHO) Here is a BatRep with additional notes and opinions at my blog if you are interested: link |

I'm a great fan of the first edition, bought the new edition this weekend. I have played the other Peter Pig square based rules and they work very well. I will give them a try ad report in the next couple of weeks |

Guillame deGuy, Thank you for a very informative BatRep which has helped me get to grips with my own copy of RoF2.I found your blog very interesting and shall visit it again whenever I have time. |

Thanks for the comments Arthur and Monty! I would still like to see a post that compares the first and second editions, hopefully John will provide that. Likewise one from someone who has tried the siege/assault rules. I hope to get to these sometime but likely to be a while yet. |

My memory of playing RoF was that it was a good and well thought out system but combat relied on adding up how many dice you were going to roll then counting them all out then rolling them. I seem to remember this being up to 40 dice which is pretty crazy and slowed the game down a lot. Has second edition toned this down at all? |

It seems to me that the new RoF game requires less figures then before. Is that correct? However the Peter Pig Armies for RoF are still large? Is this right? Martin can you clarify? |

Cool. Might get into it with the smaller size of armies to paint. The old too many periods and projects thing. Lol |
