Okay so there are a load of Zombie stuff out there. I'm in for the base level pledge for Mantic's Walking Dead but I can't decide to stay or pull out. Here's why –

In 28mm I already own (but have only painted a few) Zombicide sets (Prison Outbreak, Rue Morgue, Angry Neighbours and a few extra mini sets from the last Kickstarter – Black Plague on the way).

Also enough 15mm zombies and survivors to do the TV Walking Dead if I want to.

Mantic's offering looks good and fun. Then Warlord's Project Z appeared on my radar and that looks even more fun.

Clearly I'm a Walking Dead fan, TV and comic, but you can have too many zombies (or can you?).

Just wondering what the TMP thought.

a.) Leave it, you've got zombies coming out your a$@%
b.) Leave it and go with Project Z because … fill in blank
c.) Stay with it, looks great value etc…
b.) Buy them all becuase they are Zombies (this isn't really an option becuase I've got to draw a line somewhere!)
e.) Forget them both, haven't you seen…

Look forward to any comments.

Never mind the zombies, you obviously have enough. The real reason to jump in would be if you like the characters and scatter terrain. The resource piles and wrecked vehicles look good.

Like you, I've already got a bunch of stuff for this genre. The Mantic set at least caters to the WD books and the miniatures look nice, but the main attraction for me is probably the rule book, at this point. The Warlord minis don't look as nice (and I have lots of the old Wargame Factory figures they are based on). Also, not enough info to make a decision on it yet, but may go for the rules when they become available separately. So my plan is to just get the rule books only, through online retail, and go from there. Maybe some of Mantics figures later, but I don't see enough from the Kickstarter to jump in. So, long story short, my advice is option "a".

C. You obviously like zombies AND it does look like a fun game.

The voices of reason and restraint are prevailing.

I'd stay in if you a fan of the comic and/or you need some scatter terrain. I picked up some of Mantic's wrecked vehicles as part of their Mars Attacks KS and really like them a lot.

If you want it and can afford it why not? Variety can only enhance your zombie scenarios.

RavenscraftCybernetics27 Feb 2016 3:26 p.m. PST

if you love zombies then your number of zombies will always be insufficient to the task.

15mm and 28mm Fanatik27 Feb 2016 5:47 p.m. PST

Since you have all the TWD characters you need in 15's already, why get into a different scale? Just get the Mantic rulebook when it comes out and halve all the ranges for your 15's.

Plus, I'm sure many of the Zombicide survivors you already have are based on TWD characters so you can play it in 28mm as well.

So if I'm in your shoes choosing between TWD an Project Z, I would definitely go with the latter because it's something different that I don't have.

Option b is the right answer. The one above c that is, not the typo below that's supposed to be a d which you admitted isn't an option for you anyway.

I'm doing both because Zombies!!!

Depends on your finances, like Bashy said…if it doesn't cause you any hardship, why not? It does have some great scenery with it. Wish I could afford it.

As for the figures, you could probably do without those considering all the Zombicide sets you have. I understand though…I have all the Zombicide games, expansions, and lots of the KS exclusives…but every time I see new survivor sets out I say "Ooooo…Shiny!"

Jimboba28 Feb 2016 4:36 a.m. PST

Yes, it is "Shiny" at work here.

What a dolt I am – b.) rather than d.) Sorry.

Well, after the first two voices of reason, the voices of unadulterated zombie-aquisition seem to be quite loud too.

If I'd painted more than 10% of my Zombicide it would be a no-brainer (ha! pun).

And there's the 15mm which is my 'sweetest' scale of choice personally…

Jimboba29 Feb 2016 4:48 p.m. PST

FYI Pulled out. The thought of all those plastic eyes staring at me while I couldn't find the time to paint or play with them had me awake at night. Zombies on the other hand don't bother me ;-)

Balthazar Marduk29 Feb 2016 9:46 p.m. PST

I'm going for Project Z mostly because I like the idea of building my own gang of survivors. Replaying scenarios from TWD is cool and all, but I want to have a different story telling experience for myself and my friends.
