I am looking for some rules where players can use squadrons against squadrons and even ground attack games. I don't want the nuances of dogfights but rather the bigger pisture something like the Wings at War games but with a bit more chrome. Can anyone recommend any? |

AirWar C21 is easy and can handle a lot of planes, with ground attack if I recall correctly. It is still 1:1 with planes though. |

There is a fellow who created a Yahoo group called Raid Scale Gaming. link It appears similar to what you are seeking. IIRC he focused on the Vietnam War and used a board game called Downtown(?) as the basis for his rules. I don't recall if the aircraft were 1:1 for the games but his models were very nice. You might contact him for some ideas. Al |

Yea, C21 seems like a good bet. |

C 21 works fine unless you are saying a squadron all acts exactly the same on the table. Depends on the granularity of the game you are talking about. |

I have c21 and I will use them but i was thinking of a game where players become squadron commanders rather than section or flight commanders…..i guess I will start players as flight commanders and go from there… |

I was thinking about something like this in 1:600 link So players would need to be squadron commanders….. |

I've seen people run miniatures versions of Downtown and Elusive Victory. link link That's the closest I've seen anyone really come to what you are asking for. |

To be honest what you are describing is pretty much the realm of board gaming. The DT/EV series are excellent. Units are flights of 1-4 aircraft which all operate as one. For miniatures you might take a look at the Wings AT War rules from Tumbling Dice. While 1 model is 1 aircraft they do allow for strike packages etc. Fatman |

I am the same chap here as on BGG. Dan Cyr has the creative flair, I just like to paint things. For Mole Cricket I did a lot of prep for it which you can find here link I haven't done much more with it recently The downtown rules do work but you are pretty much into hexes and it isn't an easy system. I haven't tried many of the other use sets as they didn't cater for the aspects of airpower that I was interested in |
