I`m started a small collection of 1/72 Helios. Haven`t done a lot of aircraft recently, do acrylics paint well on models? Are acrylics ok to paint or do I have to prime them? I haven`t an airbrush. What colour green would you recommend.Cheers!!!!!!

Yes.

Are acrylics ok to paint or do I have to prime them?

I always prime with Humbrol matt white enamel.

Yes, with acrylics you should definitely prime first. I use a medium gray primer, and have used Vallejo and Polly-scale acrylics with a flat spray coat when done. Worked fine on my modern and African stuff.

Can't really offer any help on Vietnam colors, as I painted my Nam stuff so long ago that I don't remember what I used. Probably Modelmaster back then.

I go with matt black primer…

Another vote for matt black primer from a spray can. With vehicles (particularly US WWII or post WW II periods), I use flat olive green spray paint overall then I go in with lighter olive green acrylics for highlights and fading as well as other acrylics for all details.
