Me and my buddy tried out 5Core2 tonight and while I enjoyed the game very much my friend did not enjoy the rules so i'll be setting up an elaborate solo campaign to get some time in with the rules. I don't have any pics but to put it into a short summary it was roughly an equal force, we each had 9 guys, a couple of special leveled up guys on each force. my objectives were to take two of the makers and he was to recon 3 markers. There were some casualties on both sides as we rushed forward but he just could not take any ground and hold it was pushed back into cover as I kept up my advance and just dominated the field. I'll make sure to get pictures when I start my solo game.

Aw, sorry to hear your friend didn't like it.

Bad luck or the mechanics didn't work for him?

theskullking24 Feb 2016 9:02 p.m. PST

Mechanics didn't work for him. He didn't enjoy the partial activation as he was unable to really get any sort of strategy in play. And then he'd roll fire fight when not a single person was in LOS or the turn he needed to push me off an objective he rolled scurry. So a bit of both.

Ah, yeah, random turn sequences are one of those things that some people really like and others really can't stand.

Sorry it didn't work out but I hope you get some mileage out of the game solo then :)

Oh I will, i'm planning to do a rather intensive Solo campaign using some fake countries we made up back in school as kids for comic books. I want to use the 5core rules for the skirmish, company, and brigade for a large narrative game that i'm gonna put on my blog i've started up now for my gaming.

If only you'd have let him win the first one!

Too bad about your friend not liking it. Maybe get him to try again, but change it up a bit so that it's going to make it enjoyable for him to try again.
If he still doesn't like it, at least you tried right?

Doug
