Hello, all,

Continuing on with my mutations for mid 19th century, I wanted my Prussian landwehr to stand out from my Prussian regulars, so I used Great War Miniatures 1914 Belgian infantry (below) to depict the Landwehr in the short shako that some of my sources indicate they wore. I cut off the front part of the pom pom to create a lentil and then painted them up as Prussian Landwehr.

The equipment looks more gallic than germanic, but otherwise I'm happy with the result.

Best,

Great job,Can;t wait to see those lawyers and teachers fight at Langensalza.

They look great, and it is a splendid opportunity to use those lovely Belgian sculpts. But, and I am sorry to rain on the parade, the Landwehr, like the rest of the Prussian infantry, had a darkish grey greatcoat, not a blue one.

With apologies,

Mollinary

Molinary,

Good point. The rolled-up greatcoats on my Prussian line are gray (so got that right).

It ain't perfect--the equipment is all wrong, I admit, too. I wasn't thinking of these fellows in greatcoats, but was just seeing these as rather oversized Belgian coats (which were blue as well). Point taken, though. To convert these figs as Prussians you could probably paint them in gray overcoats given the size of them.

Parade rained on, but still proceeding happily.
