Are you playing Flames of War: Team Yankee?

Navy Fower Wun Seven24 Feb 2016 12:01 p.m. PST

Oh yes – played a huge solo game yesterday, playing with 3 others at the club tonight…

Winston Smith24 Feb 2016 12:04 p.m. PST

No.

Tgerritsen Supporting Member of TMP24 Feb 2016 12:07 p.m. PST

No, I would love to, but don't have the time. Will probably start and use 6mm next year.

kallman24 Feb 2016 12:07 p.m. PST

I will be eventually. Part of my current sale miniatures is to finance going with 15mm moderns.

advocate24 Feb 2016 12:13 p.m. PST

No.

Yup. 6mm but using printed counters.

Ivan DBA24 Feb 2016 12:17 p.m. PST

I'll probably pick up the rules to use with my 20+ year-old collection of micro armor.

vdal181224 Feb 2016 12:21 p.m. PST

Nope

Weasel24 Feb 2016 12:23 p.m. PST

Nope.

dsfrank24 Feb 2016 12:33 p.m. PST

I bought the rules but haven't played yet – planning to use my huge 6mm collection – hoping the ruleset does well enough for them to expand the unit types

No, but I am drooling over the toys and getting hyped by the ripple effect it is having on other manufacturers.

A friend gave me a set of the rules, he got a replacement for a set lost in the post then the original set turned up weeks later, BFrnt told him not to bother returning the set so my lucky day. I must say they are better than I expected, I will wait for I Aint Been Nuked Mum myself but will play TYif someone runs a game.

Garand24 Feb 2016 1:05 p.m. PST

Planning on playing in 6mm to start, may do some 15mm armies too if I plan for "out of house" games in the general public…

I just need to pick up a few items…

Damon.

epturner24 Feb 2016 1:47 p.m. PST

Nope. Can't get into moderns.

Eric

haywire24 Feb 2016 1:50 p.m. PST

I played the demo and have purchased a couple box sets, but nothing assembled yet.

redbanner414524 Feb 2016 1:53 p.m. PST

No

Delta Vee24 Feb 2016 2:04 p.m. PST

nope, though I may get some BOAR stuff and do "the Chieftains" I might need something with a bit of pizaz for the end of the encounter at the railway line. ;(

vtsaogames24 Feb 2016 2:14 p.m. PST

No. I don't play Vietnam or later. WW III? My wife-to-be was living in Amsterdam at the time. No nukes, please.

I was in diapers when Korea happened so might consider that.

My father-in-law commanded a heavy weapons platoon on a hill within sight of Pork Chop Hill.

I'd consider more modern stuff if no one I know could have gone, like India-Pakistan or Iran-Iraq.

Inconsistent? You bet. It's how I roll.

Mako1124 Feb 2016 2:22 p.m. PST

Not yet, but would like to give them a try.

No. Too many arguments about weapons effectiveness.

freerangeegg24 Feb 2016 3:17 p.m. PST

No , but I am getting some of the toys and waiting on the release of I Ain't Been Nuked Mum.

Cosmic Reset24 Feb 2016 3:43 p.m. PST

Play Cold War, but not with TY.

john lacour24 Feb 2016 4:40 p.m. PST

All this team tankee nonsense has gotten me interested in modern-yes. But in 1/285th and with the rule4s TAC2, a updated, improved version of the GDW modern TACFORCE.

But i do enjoy the LOL experience the team tankee is…

Garryowen Supporting Member of TMP24 Feb 2016 4:53 p.m. PST

No, and have zero interest.

Soon.

No. I sold off my micro armor and can't afford/won't buy the 15mm stuff.
Tempting though.

Bashytubits24 Feb 2016 6:23 p.m. PST

It's not even on my radar.

15mm and 28mm Fanatik24 Feb 2016 6:29 p.m. PST

Not yet but buying up everything Battlefront's still releasing for the game as we speak. Just added two Carnation howitzer batteries to my Soviet army today. Will start playing once I have a decent force painted, since I follow my golden rule of never ever playing with unpainted or only primered minis.

TY is my first foray outside of 28mm btw. I might have to change my TMP name.

pigasuspig24 Feb 2016 6:48 p.m. PST

Tried it a few times, liked it, but like WWII better. TY rules may be an improvement. Will be very interested to see FOW 4 way down the line. But don't really like playing two similar-but-not-the-same systems concurrently.

MH Dee24 Feb 2016 7:07 p.m. PST

It may sound incredibly petty of me (but then again, the aesthetics of miniature gaming is a big part of the attraction)… but I can't really get past the cover of the rulebook. For me, the Cold War should have more bleaker, stylish and minimalist imagery. The cover just looks completely wrong to me.

I feel the same with many of BF's cover designs though. I liked the 3rd edition 3 volume set though.

john lacour24 Feb 2016 7:13 p.m. PST

Do you really judge a book by its cover?

tberry740324 Feb 2016 7:52 p.m. PST

No. I have the book and if I decide to play I'll go the microarmor route.

MH Dee24 Feb 2016 8:16 p.m. PST

'Do you really judge a book by its cover?'

Well it's not that simple – it just doesn't strike me as having the correct atmosphere – it doesn't entice me on a purely visual level. As a European, I can't really *get* the design.

I'm aware this may sound weird though… but….

Noble Crow24 Feb 2016 8:18 p.m. PST

Got the rules as a Christmas gift. Haven't played yet because I'm still painting 6mm Soviets.

Pictors Studio24 Feb 2016 8:46 p.m. PST

I would, but haven't yet.

Chuckaroobob24 Feb 2016 9:54 p.m. PST

Bought the rules, have buckets of painted Soviets, lots of unpainted NATO, haven't played yet but intend to do so soon.

TunnelRat25 Feb 2016 3:28 a.m. PST

No – don't play anything by battlefront!

Mute Bystander25 Feb 2016 4:14 a.m. PST

No, not adding another period, unless it is strictly aerial.

PzGeneral25 Feb 2016 4:19 a.m. PST

Painting my stuff. Lots to paint…… slow painter with some family issues to deal with ATM……Pictors Studios is getting my infantry to do……

Mr Elmo25 Feb 2016 5:12 a.m. PST

I just finished assemblibg 50 points of Soviets. On to painting!

Badgers25 Feb 2016 5:43 a.m. PST

Haven't played yet but assembling my forces. Whatever I end up thinking about the game after I play it, they get my total gratitude (and my money) for popularising the period.

Martin Rapier25 Feb 2016 5:57 a.m. PST

I play Cold War, but not with TY.

Vigilant25 Feb 2016 9:24 a.m. PST

Use Cold War Commander for micro armour and Sabres Squadron for 28mm, never played FOW so not likely to play TY.

Son of a 29er25 Feb 2016 10:34 a.m. PST

No. It's not a time period I'm interested in.
