1) Yes 2) no The quick response is yes but consider further. I find my hobby to be a useful field of contemplation during interminable meetings & professional development sessions where your input is unnecessary, only your corporeal presence is needed. And then there's various resources such as a great guillotine which I use (in lunch breaks) to cut up the thick card I use as bases or the multi-thousand dollar colour laser printer I use to print flags (at a very small cost). Indeed, if nothing else, work provides an income to buy more "stuff". OK: that's some of the negative case. Your thoughts? |

Timewise, of course. All those hours I could spend painting, reading or actually playing games. On the other hand, I couldn't afford to maintain my lead (and resin, and plastic) mountain without the money I earn… |

A lot. Or to put it differently: the need to find incomes. Get the lottery suddenly 1/2 week games 40+ weeks a year. Dreams, as of know, for technical reasons, are not yet taxed. |

Not much point in working and having money to buy lots of toys if I'm too exhausted to actually play with them. So, yes. The work life balance thing is very hard. Actually painting, designing rules etc helps with all the 'mindfulness' stuff, but so does running, or doing the garden. And I wouldn;t need to worry about 'mindfulness' if I wasn't at work… |

Yes Work gets in the way of a lot of things. Exploring the world, gaming, reading time, music practice, hobby writing, etc etc. Of course I couldn't afford to do any of those things without work…. Or, more succinctly Not much point in working and having money to buy lots of toys if I'm too exhausted to actually play with them. So, yes. The work life balance thing is very hard.

Work? It's worst than that. Life gets in the way of me wargaming. I have to content myself reading about what you guys and girls are doing. Long may you continue. |

I have a great balance between work and play. Actually I enjoy my work so much that It brings me more pleasure than all the various aspects of gaming. However, I really enjoy gaming with the guys, painting and researching history too. Oh, I am an assistant minister and I also own Miniature Service Center. I have a full, enjoyable life every direction I turn. |

When I am painting figures for other people that is time that I could be painting figures for myself. However, if I had any other job I wouldn't be painting as much which means fewer of my figures would be painted still. |

Well, naturally. My biggest obstacle, however, is space. Often setting up a table with terrain and pulling out all the figures is just too much to handle, so I end out reading instead. I'd kill for a dedicated room. Of course, gaming primarily in 54mm doesn't help things… |

I got more painting done when I was working a "real" job. I did it as my relaxation after a day at work. Now that I'm self-employed (or, self un-employed, as the case may be), painting has mostly fallen by the wayside. Being too dam' far away from other gamers takes more of a toll on actual gaming. |
