link Evening all, The last couple of weeks have seen us revisit the AWI with a go at 2nd Saratoga. It was a close run, enjoyable game. I really do enjoy British Grenadier, proper old school rules. I was a bit limited with my choice of battle not because of numbers but due to my lack of cavalry. It's my own fault as I have had the horses done for a year at least I just haven't finished the riders off. You will find our orbats, map and game pics included. I live tweeted the game a couple of weeks ago so if you're on twitter you might have seen some of the pictures before. Twitter handle (?) is @yarkshiregamer. Regards Ken The Yarkshire Gamer |

Very nice. We did Bemis a few months ago and it resulted in an American victory. Just too many Americans. |

Cheers everyone, Rallynow I was quite surprised how close it was looking at the mass of American troops I thought we would get steam rolled but the Artillery did it's work and the exposed flank on the main American attack helped the Brits a lot. It's certainly a scenario I would like to come back to. Regards Ken |

Great looking game. I would ask where Ten Broek's very large brigade of Yank militia was? True, if they showed up the game would be seriously unbalanced, as was the actual fight. |

Hi vtsaogames, As I'm sure you know Broek was held in reserve behind Learned on the day. The troops aren't included in the British Grenadier scenario we based our refight on. Regards Ken |

Ken, I don't know the BG scenario. "Saratoga" by Luzader (retired US Park Service historian at Saratoga National Park) says Learned, reinforced by Ten Broek deployed between Morgan and Poor. No further mention of them after that but it was 1,800 Albany militia. In the OB it mentions they were involved in the fight of October 7. I suppose it is reasonable to leave them out. Luzader gives more credit to Gates than is usual. |

Nice bar rep, nice figures as well. I may run this scenario using your OB and map if you don't mind. |

Interesting! We did this one last year and the Rebel assault never really got off the ground. |
