The Mahdist forces led by Wad al-Nejumi succeeded in placing a few ladders against the walls of Khartoum and finally closed into melee. The results of the first turn scaling the walls were encouraging for the Mahdist attackers but thereafter the resistance of the Egyptian defenders stiffened. A small section of Egyptian infantry that had been guarding the Burri Gate was sent to reinforce the wall while a small unit of Egyptian cavalry was dismounted to take the place of the infantry at the gate. General Gordon was feeling optimistic about the progress of the battle when the whole city was rocked by a large explosion. The Burri Gate had been blown open! I just love the look of your game. Those old Mike's Models figures have so much personality, and the city, river and environs all look spot on. Thank you for the inspiration! |

Thanks for the kind comments. As it's raining outside I think this afternoon might be a good time to continue the battle. |
