I've been bitten by the TY bug, and now that I've finished off US & USSR forces I was thinking of dusting off my other 6mm force, PLA armor. I've been rereading Hackett's book about defense budgets in the late 70's and while China doesn't feature too prominently, a Sino-Soviet conflict might be fun to game. I'm assuming that there will be a WARPAC grade-2 formation list based on T-55's put out at some time, and it seems like this might be a good fit. I'm thinking: T-55: Type 69-II BMP-1 IFV: WZ 501 (stretching the time frame a bit) PT-76/BMP-1 recon: Type 63 2S3: Type 83 (assuming there is a 2S3, otherwise 2S1) BM-21 ZSU-57-2 Aircraft: ? I'd appreciate any thoughts. -Alex |

Finishing up, adding aerials and Dshka to: 1 x Command 69-II 10 x 69-11 9 x 69-II 5 x 69-I 10 x Type 63 (APC) 4 x Type 63 (Recon Tank) 2 x ZSU-57-2 3 x Type 83 (SPG) and moving on to infantry, GHQ Soviets. I went with VJ Goldbrown as a base for camo striping based on the photos I've seen and to make it easier differentiate between USSR and PLA units. Also a drier flock and less rocky bases for Mongolia. I definitely need some more 57-2's and some Grad's. And 2 more Mi-8T's as Hind proxies, which will do double duty as Hind proxies for an Afgantsy list. At 6mm a red star is a red star. And I've got a company of BMP-1 in basic green that I can borrow from the Sovs. So, its going, just lacks time and money. |
