The Douglas Aircraft Company and the US Army sent the Douglas World Cruiser around the world. They built five of them, two were destroyed in the event.

Afterwards they made the plane as the US Army Air Corps O-5 Observation Plane and they served until about 1942.

How many were made?
Where were they stationed?
Are there any photos online of them in service?
Where they armed?
Could they drop bombs?
What were their paint schemes?

My Google-Fu has not turned up anything.

Thanks.

It appears that what you are looking for is the Douglas World Cruiser, which was modified to become the O5.

OK only six O-5's were built, they were used by the 2nd Observation Squadron based on Corregidor, I don't think I've ever seen pictures of one in flight but there must be some out there, two .30's fired by the observer, if they could they'd be very small ones, probably olive drab.

Thank you Fatman, that's what I wanted to know.
