"Reinstate Boardgames as a Regular TMP Board?" Topic

Some time ago, there was a reaction to the perception that TMP was getting crowded with too many boards pertaining to topics other than miniatures gaming. In response, the TMP Plus boards were created, which got most of the offending topics off the front page. This is all very well, but one of the casualties was Boardgames. I feel that it should be reinstated, since board wargames are sufficiently within the penumbra of miniatures wargaming as to be a legitimate topic on this forum. Does anyone else agree, or should the Boardgames topic stay where it is?

I would prefer to eliminate the distinction between TMP Plus and "regular" TMP entirely.
But that has been voted down at least twice before.

I agree with Winston, all the boards, one TMP. But, I really have no use for a boardgames board.

I am in two minds on this one. Not all boardgames are wargames. Not all board wargames use miniatures. This is after all the "The Miniatures Page".

Interesting. Generally, I am very much against the introduction of new boards. However, in this situation I think there is a good case for the introduction of a new board "Boardgames with Miniatures" and leaving the existing "Boardgames" board where it is on TMP Plus.

The intent of the + boards was to keep TMP pure and unsullied by non miniature related posts.
This was followed by a proliferation of individual "media" boards in almost every sub-genre.
The board games board should remain where it is and all the media boards should be eliminated.

I think board games are a distinct difference from say, music or movies.

If someone plays Bolt Action, there's a decent chance they might also play a ww2 board game.

Their musical tastes don't dictate this as much (except I guess Sabaton and Bolt Thrower :) )

This is not "The Gaming Page;" it's "The Miniatures Page." I like that I can come here and see all-miniatures news and discussion and not have to wade through hundreds of other posts.

All this other stuff is in the Plus boards anyway, so keep them there.

I don't find myself wading through anything that I don't want to. I choose what boards I see.

Only historical boardgame board. What was once called "historical simulations" back in the hey day of board games from the likes of SPI, GDW, AH among others.

Now GMT and others. They are a great tool for designing scenarios for miniature games. Plus they are fun to play.

Now I see what we are talking about. The boardgame board is still with us. As long it is here somewhere then I am okay with it.

What is the damned point of the Plus Boards, anyway? You can toggle off anything, or anyone, you don't want to see. Having it isolated like that is an inconvenience. Which is why I rarely go there.

I always figured "plus" was for stuff that isn't related to gaming at all, so it kinda sorta makes sense that way I guess.

I almost neve visit though since, as you say, its all stuffed away.
