Howdy folks,

Cheers.

Am i missing something?
Russian tank companies are 10 tanks. 3 platoons of 3 tanks each plus 1 company command tank.
Why are yours different?

The 1st Squadron of the 11th ACR knocked out a bunch in the covering force battles, so these guys are under-strength.

Thanks gents…I'm very much enjoying these models and am looking to add more. As for the overall force, this is the starter box…if you've played Flames of War then you know there are certain variances between gaming table and realworld OOB.

What you might be missing John is the game structure and Battlefronts take on big Sov formations. The models I have are organized as such so that I can field a formation within the points system. There are some great previews of where Battlefront is taking this on their Team Yankee and Flames of War main site.

Cheers,

Did we just get censored?

Wow a raft of deletions and no dawghousing….I had visions of that conversation resulting in an extension having to be built.

To go back to the OP I like the weathering, very nice.

Can't leave you guys alone for 5 minutes without you getting into trouble! :-)

@GeoffQRF: I'm thinking so…didn't get a chance to read all the comments.

@PzGeneral: For the T72's I started with basecoat of Tankovy Green…I found it very bright…maybe 'limey'? Followed up with Vallejo 894, then dryish 4:1 of 894 and Vallejo 820 offwhite followed by dry of almost 50/50 of 894 and 820. The treads were vj 863 gunmetal followed by dry of 983 flat earth, then dry of vj 875 beige brown. Treads inked first with army painter strong tone then entire tank gets inked with dark tone.

Hope this helps.

Thank you All for the feedback and kind words.

Haha…totally forgot…the Hinds were painted with base of desert yellow vj977 or vj914, they both work nicely…and then camouflage is vj924 Russian uniform…add in a bunch of water to help make the edges much softer.

I think that's it…brainfart averted hopefully.

Very nice! Thanks for posting!

Nice job on the T72s. Just enough weathering to give a nice in-service look without going too far (and something that's not easy to get right).

GeoffQRF18 Feb 2016 6:08 a.m. PST

What is going on with those turrets?

Oiler7218 Feb 2016 7:40 a.m. PST

@GeoffQRF, not sure what you mean sir…did I brainfart something on the 72's?

GeoffQRF18 Feb 2016 11:48 a.m. PST

No, not you :-). Really nice paint jobs

Drop me an email and I will tell you

Never mind the T-72's, those Hinds look lovely!

It's also good to know I'm not the only one hooked on FOX's Monday night lineup.

Oiler7218 Feb 2016 9:00 p.m. PST

Thank you @GeoffQRF, will do.

@28mm, I'm pretty happy with the humour they've brought to the Xfiles, and Lucifer is just so tongue in cheek it's hard to not be sucked in.

First a bit 'off topic' here.. I was actually shocked to see so many "Deletions". If they have or feel the need (for any reason) to delete a comment, why not just delete memeber name as well.. just to save space?

Back to subject..
@Oiler72, These are the first TY miniatures Ive seen painted, and they look great, the Hinds by far are amazing.
Im very curious, maybe I missed it, but what color did you use for the window/ windshield of the Hinds?
When (IF) I get into TY, I was considering adding a bit of white to my Reaper "blackend steel" to lighten it just a bit and go with that for the windshields.

@Part Time Gamer: thank you sir…I totally forgot to list the windscreen colours, good catch. I based black, then layer of vj 943, I then used dry brush of off-white and then strong or dark tone near the bottom of the window.

Good luck when the time comes…I think I've seen similar results with your Reaper choice, should look great.
