OK -- I picked up a bunch of Wings of Glory stuff at a wargames show, and its not a system or period I know much about.

If I want to play a 4 player game (2 players as side), should I have one or two planes a player. How big a mat should I use?

If I want historically accurate and somewhat fair duels, what are a pair of evenly matched (and fun) planes to play with?

Are there any historical scenarios for WWI planes anywhere?

One plane per player is good, but as the basic system is so simple, a player should eb able to manage two or even three planes if you wish. A 4ft square playing area should be fine.

There is no such thing as a historically accurate and somewhat fair duel.

Just pick opposing planes that were in service in the same year.

The Osprey Aircraft of the Aces series of books provide endless combat reports that should inspire some scenarios.

Evenly matched could be something like the S.E.5a vs. the Fokker D.VII, or the Fokker D.III vs. the Morane-Saulnier N.

We use all the rules, usually have one player per plane, and will use three mats for 8-10 players. I would suggest going with one or two mats for four players, one plane each. Once you get through the basic rules I highly recommend adding in the standard and advanced…altitude makes a huge difference in the game.
