BrisCon is back at its traditional May Day weekend being organised by a new group of old hands called Brisbane Gaming Society. We want to provide an independent, friendly and fun environment and return Brisbane to the annual gaming circuit and provide a great game environment for as many game systems we can attract!
What: BrisCon held by Brisbane Gaming Society
When: April 30, May 1 2016
Where: Brisbane Table Tennis Association hall brisbanetabletennis.org.au
Details: briscon2016.com and link
Cost:$40
That's right, Saturday April 30 and Sunday May 1. More details will follow but we have secured the fantastic Brisbane Table Tennis Center at Downey Park in Windsor for the convention and hope to grow it to three days over the next couple of years.
As it is essentially being funded by the small executive committee of the Brisbane Gaming Society, but we need all your help to make this happen.
We have President Mark Lauchs, Secretary Fraser Kendall, Paul Turner as Treasurer with Managing Committee members Garry Wait, Mal Heather and Brad Cook. We are VERY keen to involve As many of the Queensland gaming community as possible as the whole point is to have a convention which is open to every club and every retailer.
We will also need volunteers and Games Managers. We already have Garry putting his hand up to run the Queensland Team Yankee Championships along with a mid-war FOW comp and Darren Martin has volunteered to run the Drop Zone Commander competition. We are looking for Games Managers for games such as ancients, X-Wing, 40k and/or WarMachine and, of course, Kings of War, Infinity and Bolt Action. It would be great for specific clubs to get behind these games, and specific retailers or distributors to sponsor each one. If you want to be a Games Manager for one of these systems, or any other, please let us know (briscongamesmanager@gmail.com) and we're looking for display and participation games as well. If you are a retailer you can also drop us a line at brisbanegamingsociety@gmail.com as we would love to have you involved.
The center has a good cafeteria, and more than enough room for our first attempt, where we are aiming to fill 50 tables of gamers, plus some demo/participation games, a second hand stall and retailer booths.
We have a website and Facebook Page (see details above) along with other social media channels and will work hard to communicate across every available forum, online community and club to let them know it is on?
We will be collecting names for volunteers or just get enthusiastic and jump on this forum or the Facebook page or check out the details on the website and get the conversation started.
And for those travelling gamers from other states and across the ditch, come and join us, Brisbane in May is beautiful!
