Thanks for posting, I've been toying with the idea of getting something like this. I sort of like the look of this mat, but it doesn't hit the sweet spot for me.

I'm wondering do other folks have a favorite seascape mat they would recommend? Something that really looks like you could sink down into.

what type of material is pvc?

It's like plastic floor-covering used in kitchens etc, We in the the U.K. call it "lino". hope this helps you!

Have a look at tinywargames.co.uk they do a selection of sea scape mats in a rubberised material like 'lino', but thinner and more flexible. If I knew how to post a photo I'd show you one in use, but the website shows them very nicely.
