I'm recreating my 15mm forces in 6mm in order to play similar sized games on the coffee table.

I'm looking for about:

German:
2 Tigers
10 PzIVs
5 StugIIIs
5 Panthers
3 Pak40s w/crew
about 80 Infantry including MGs, schrecks, mortars

US:
10 Shermans
5 M10s
5 Stuarts
3 57mm guns w/ crew
about 80 Infantry including MGs, bazookas, mortars

I know that GHQ is awesome, but they're also pricy. I'm hoping to spend about $150. USD

Any thoughts?

THANKS! :D

Try C-in-C miniatures pfc-cinc.com/front_page.html
4 tanks for $6. USD C in C vs 4 for $12 USD with GHQ

Heroics and Ros are probably the best deal for price. You can buy exactly what you want in vehicles as they are sold in singles. However, they are not very detailed.

CinC also has good value. I have not seen any but their infantry has been described as spindly and fragile. There vehicles are nearly as good as GHQ and at 6mm, a little less detail will not matter much at all.

Adler does not make vehicles but does have all the infantry you would need. They are quite solid and mix well with GHQ.

MiniPatton11 Feb 2016 12:19 p.m. PST

If you haven't already, check out the Pico Armor stuff. I game on small tables at my house using it and it is very inexpensive – 15 vehicles for $4.25 USD. The scale is 3mm, but they are really well done.

Gaz004511 Feb 2016 12:21 p.m. PST

Second the call for Heroics&Ros, not as 'detailed' ( not given to giant rivet casting); available singly and better value for money than GHQ.

RetroBoom11 Feb 2016 12:27 p.m. PST

Are any of you able to compare Infantry quality between manufacturers?

steamingdave4711 Feb 2016 12:36 p.m. PST

Don't forget abacus in UK just bringing out their WW2 range- likely to be very good, if past form anything to go by. I am certainly going to wait for their Russian infantry (got all the armour I need)

Does H&R have a US distributor?

Who asked this joker11 Feb 2016 12:56 p.m. PST

The Last Square is the US distributor for H&R. lastsquare.com

Weasel11 Feb 2016 1:16 p.m. PST

Huzzah :-)

Mako1111 Feb 2016 1:36 p.m. PST

H&R for the infantry.

The vehicles are up to you, but CinC, Scotia, and H&R make decent stuff (note – for the last two, some minis are better than others, so best to ask specifically, or see pics first).

RetroBoom11 Feb 2016 1:41 p.m. PST

Thanks guys!

Does anyone have pics of H&R stuff? They're hard to come by.

Specifically:
Tiger
PzIV
Stug
Panther
Pak40
Infantry

Sherman
M10
Stuart
57mm
Infantry

Thanks! :D

Sorry, don't have pictures and they are all on the other side of the state.

However, I am a big fan of C-in-C. Due to the fact that they don't upscale gun barrels, some of them are a bit spindly on earlier AFVs with smaller caliber guns.

However aside from possibly the Stuart, your AFV lot would be just fine from C-in-C.

Infantry GHQ or H&R.

DColtman11 Feb 2016 2:16 p.m. PST

I'd go for Adler infantry and crews with CinC vehicles and ordinance for the best mix of price and quality. I think it could be done for $150. USD

Dynaman878911 Feb 2016 5:21 p.m. PST

counting up what you need you are looking at roughly 15 packs of GHQ, get them at Noble Knight and you are looking at the ballpark of 150 (over that but not hideously so). GHQ really have no competition at this scale for what they make with two caveats, Baccus is coming out with a WWII line and H&R's new stuff is excellent.

> Does H&R have a US distributor?

Order directly from H&R, I've put in two orders from them and they both arrived within two weeks of ordering. One time they even apologized for the slow service (order came in just under two weeks mind, international)…

Irregular Miniatures also offers a 6 MM range and you can buy them as individual pieces.

On the Last Square page, how many H&R infantry figures / stands do you get in one pack?

Martin Rapier12 Feb 2016 12:15 a.m. PST

Most of my stuff is H&R, just because it is reasonable quality and fairly cheap. Supplemented with Scotia, GHQ, cinc, irregular etc.

Not a fan of Adler as the figures are huge alongside 1/300 scale stuff.

Rapier Miniatures12 Feb 2016 4:26 a.m. PST

GHQ and I think CinC are 1/285th rather than '6mm' or any such thing.

I would use GHQ, because I have found they paint up easily and well, old H&R could go a little blobby sometimes.

But best advice, is a few from each and go on personal taste.

Martin Rapier12 Feb 2016 4:58 a.m. PST

Yes, GHQ and CinC are 1/28th, so Adler sits better with them. The newer GHQ figures are very nice too.

Bellbottom12 Feb 2016 11:30 a.m. PST

Yes, Some of thee Irregular stuff is quite good, I particularly like their nondescript open back trucks, stuffed full of troops.
I addition check out 1/285 scale Mainforce infantry at Magister Militum here

I don't know if this is any help it is from the H&R website unfortunately they only have the American vehicles.

There are about 50 figures in a pack of H&R Infantry/Heavy weapons.
The Adler figures are nice, except for the large heads. The packs do come in mixed posses, and their engineer packs are good.

daler240D12 Feb 2016 12:25 p.m. PST

price for 6mm is inconsequential. go for what looks the best to you.

Mark 1 Supporting Member of TMP12 Feb 2016 2:21 p.m. PST

I just wish somebody would do 6m DsHK AA MGs

Someone does.

H&R offers the DShK 12.7mm on an AA mount. Looks entirely respectable.

Thanks Greg! Are the H&R infantry on strips, stands or single?

Greg G112 Feb 2016 3:43 p.m. PST

On strips.

If interested in 6mm or 1/285th,

GHQ.

Ah Troy, if only we could convince to to return to the one true wargaming scale!

I'd even offer you back the GHQ Pershings you sold me when you moved on to other, less perfect scales….

So Troy, what you're telling me is that we should go for GHQ?

;p

Andy ONeill06 Jul 2016 7:01 a.m. PST

Back in the 70s we used to use home made chits for infantry.
Cardboard rectangles and squares.
With map symbols for stuff like mmg, bazooka etc.
Painted in what we felt appropriate uniform colour.
The likes of company and platoon written on the under side.

Mind you, a fair few of my tanks weren't exactly tip top quality.
