Rubbish…the green is fine. Dragoon green is not Rifle Green. This is the colour that the Humbrol enamel tin thought correct. It will fade. We must allow for photography and what it does to our painting skills.
Let me instead talk about the trumpeters' lace or the occifer's helmet……..the grey horse…incredible.
The photos here……….all you needed to do was use a bit of Photoshop to tone it down.
I wish I had your skills.
OK, what is wrong really? A "2" on the shabraque corner….an eagle or a grenade maybe. Not a number. Valise maybe. But what about the skill needed to paint a number 2 in 28 mm scale at all? I chose any regt with a 1,7,0, maybe a 4 in their title.
How good is the shading on the saddlecloth?
Paint the edge of the GMB flag with a gold. It will improve it.
von Winterfeldt taught me that the grey horse should be blacker around the knees and lighten towards the hooves. "Rubbish" I thought, till I checked….OK, he is usually right. He was. I would not change that now. I have though!
Actually, it is not just the Officer's helmet…I love the highlighting on all helmets and will save these for future reference.
Not sure I have seen these better done. You just need to learn how modern post photo processing can transform them…it is called cheating.
These are outstanding. They will improve my work
A tip. Photograph them, from lower down, with a tripod. Do not give us the wargamer's view. Show us how they would have looked to Don McCullen…………Your modelling and painting is far better than you realise. Your photography is boring and standard and safe and amateur and unimaginative…but other wise it is fine.
Indulge me….only kidding. I hope you have a sense of humour
