I have managed to complete another long suffering unit for my Napoleonics

picture
The Green is a little light in colour and I'm no expert with Napoleonics!

Nice! I agree the green looks a little light – but that is because they have been in field campaigning for so long

Rubbish…the green is fine. Dragoon green is not Rifle Green. This is the colour that the Humbrol enamel tin thought correct. It will fade. We must allow for photography and what it does to our painting skills.

Let me instead talk about the trumpeters' lace or the occifer's helmet……..the grey horse…incredible.

The photos here……….all you needed to do was use a bit of Photoshop to tone it down.

I wish I had your skills.

OK, what is wrong really? A "2" on the shabraque corner….an eagle or a grenade maybe. Not a number. Valise maybe. But what about the skill needed to paint a number 2 in 28 mm scale at all? I chose any regt with a 1,7,0, maybe a 4 in their title.

How good is the shading on the saddlecloth?

Paint the edge of the GMB flag with a gold. It will improve it.

von Winterfeldt taught me that the grey horse should be blacker around the knees and lighten towards the hooves. "Rubbish" I thought, till I checked….OK, he is usually right. He was. I would not change that now. I have though!

Actually, it is not just the Officer's helmet…I love the highlighting on all helmets and will save these for future reference.

Not sure I have seen these better done. You just need to learn how modern post photo processing can transform them…it is called cheating.

These are outstanding. They will improve my work

A tip. Photograph them, from lower down, with a tripod. Do not give us the wargamer's view. Show us how they would have looked to Don McCullen…………Your modelling and painting is far better than you realise. Your photography is boring and standard and safe and amateur and unimaginative…but other wise it is fine.

Indulge me….only kidding. I hope you have a sense of humour

Thanks guys for the comments

Frederick, that will do for me! Faded uniforms from hard campaigning, it fits the bill nicely.

Troop of Shewe, thank you also! Its always nice to receive kind words from someone who's work you greatly admire.

My good friend Robby, always encouraging! Your support is always welcomed, you have helped me in so many ways. Your support and kind words are always welcome.

deadhead, well what to say! No worries I have got a sense of humour, I do need to improve my photography skills! Which I think is blindingly obvious. Hopefully a decent camera will help, its just the imaginative bit I struggle with.
Napoleonic uniforms appear to be a bit of a mine field when it comes to getting it right. I sometimes get carried away and don't always get it right, well to be honest making the odd mistake seems to be my trademark of sorts. So thank you for bringing a smile to my face, I'm glad you enjoyed them.

So thanks guys, life has being abit up and down lately
So TMP is my escape from it all!
Thanks again cheers Russ

The green in no way looks too light, when perspective and basic, fundamental artistry is taken into account.

They look precisely as they ought to look at that scale. Well done.

Thanks guys the feedback is very much appreciated

JCBJCB, I agree with the element of artistry! Sometimes things need something more to make them look good. Although the green was a complete oversight.

Thanks oldbob, I just hope I can get a few more done. My butterfly mind may just wander sooner rather than later.

plutarch 64, thank you you also. They seem to have found more favour than I expected.

So thanks for looking and commenting guys,
Cheers for now
Russ
