I have been working on some conversions for Urartians. Could not help myself becoming side tracked having accessed some cheap Green Stuff.
Really enjoying conversions even if they are not as well sculpted as I saw in mind :).
I plan to adapt the Assyrian list for To The Strongest. I see Urartu as having best of bronze armour as everyone else seemed to copy and use their equipment.
The army I then imagine:

2 horse chariots
4 horse chariots (small amount very late period)
Armoured cavalry with shields (cream of army)
Guard spear with large all bronze shields
Mede style spearmen (provincial troops)
Medium infantry spear/Uratian crest helmets (like Assyrian
auxilla)
several ally Scythians units
Bow units with some Uratian helmets?
Usual Near East skirmish types.

Thoughts welcome:)

Sounds like a good plan for a solid early Ancients army – would be a fun army to command, I think, especially as the Guard would provide a core of disciplined troops

I've thought of doing this army (DBA) to oppose mighty Assyria for sometime. I look forward to your work.

Druzhina…the Balawat Gate and Clive Naseby article (great) is for 9thC Urartian. I am working on the late period although early period very nice too.
The heavy infantry in the late period would I believe be more similar to Ashurbanipals Army ( which in turn would have late Urartian influenced armour).
However for lighter troops I imagine not too much change. Look out for my Mede/provincial spear unit very soon. TS…who you like my approach to Urartians.
