Am after recommendations for any military histories that cover the French / German front. Overviews of the conflict or any well written books on specific battles? TIA |

"The Price of Glory" is Alistair Hornes classic account of Verdun. "Paths of Glory" by Clayton is a decent general history of the French Army in WW1. |

Read the first, highly recommended. Am reading the second right now, good over all history of the French Army, goes into morale issues and other little covered topics, also recommended. Good overall history is "The First World War" by Gilbert. Also take a look at he YouTube series "the Great War". It covers the war week by week. Each episode is 10 minutes and there are a bunch of specials, including 2 on French small arms. |
