Sounds like an interesting project. I suspect this means that the laying of the keel for the USS Richard M. Nixon will be further delayed………. |

Are the buildings available on-line or do I need to email them? Do you have pics of the completed buildings? I'm always looking for options in this area. |

Looks good. Suggestion. If you ever come to Denver, you'll find that the center of town (the old part) is laid out on a NW to SE and NE to SW grid, while the rest of town is on a north-south and east-west grid. The old part of town was laid out based on the original road into town which ran parallel to the Platte River and Cherry Creek, hence the unusual orientation. The point being that you may want to think of a reason your street swings off to the side, something beyond "it is the Hollywood thing to do." Should provide an opportunity for a fun back story. One of the NW-SE streets, Lawrence, I think, was originally named after a prominent businessman. It gradually became full of bars and bawdyhouses, and his heirs petitioned the city to change the name, which they did. (I take great comfort in this story when I see a street named after a present day politician I dislike--it gives me something to hope for!). Finally, when Denver was founded, it was part of Kansas Territory, which extended to the continental divide. The name was an attempt to suck up to James Denver, the territorial governor. By the time they got the news back to the territorial capital, Denver had quit and there was a new governor. I'm sure this says something about sucking up in general. Grelber |

If you go to my blog and search for Calamity, you will find all kinds of posts on my wild west town. There are a lot of links on the front page for old west towns that I use for inspiration plus companies that make mdf and wood western buildings. In particular you might find these posts handy: link link link link |
