Tell me about this company.

Do they only sell painted figures? They have painted Wurttemburg cavalry, infantry and artillery, all in greatcoats/cloaks yet the site seems incomplete.

Yes, this is his site – very little about jolly frogs.
Very little info about the minis on display.

Are they just conversions he's painting or are these original sculpts he doesn't have a page for yet?

From the home page there:

Stuart is a miniature figure painter offering the collector or wargamer a quality model painting service in 15mm to 220mm scale. I also build and paint vignettes and small dioramas.
Throughout this site you will find many pictures of my work , some that have won figure painting competitions some are mine and some are commissions. Over 25 years of experience which includes commissions for wargames clubs, collectors a military museum and a respected miniature manufacturer .
I love what I do hopefully you can see that in the figures . I do hope in time to manufacture my own figures that im working on. I hope you will look in the Gallery. This is a new site I hope to expanding with it as I grow as a business maybe painting tips? Maybe a history of a war or campaign . There is also a For Sale page where I will be selling painted figures large and small .

I read that too – also not helpful.

Unless you are saying he "built" all the Wurttemburg greatcoat figures.

On the "sale page" there is no information, no price or anything.

Yes, I could enquire directly but thought I'd ping the group to see if anyone already had gotten to the bottom of things.

Not much info on the site other than pictures and a place to send inquiries. Where can you buy unpainted of the figures shown? How much do they cost? This would be useful as of not the page is worthless unless I want to loo at painted figures. Help me out here.

Are not the Wurttenburg Figures converted Front Rank with the cloaks (not an overcoat, it is a cloak with sleeves……not much difference I admit) added from something like Greenstuff?

(It is just posible that the artist has to be slightly cautious about selling conversions or at least advertising them in public. I doubt it would ever arise, but strictly speaking, any conversion of a figure is potentially a breach of copyright. Hard to believe, but we did discuss this last year. Once it becomes commercial, I still doubt anyone would be so sad as to object…but they could! Offering to just paint your figures is subtly different.)

They are just that..I have since checked the website catalogue for Front Rank. Instantly recognisable…great castings, superb detail, but some odd poses and upper limbs often thicker and longer than lower limbs…and I do mean the riders not the horses!

These conversions have been shown here before and I saved the images. They inspired me to tackle the Russian dragoons from Perrys. They are indeed in overcoats, but they lost their heads and right arms, I transplanted Perry arm and head/czapka from Guard Lancers and built up the short cape over the cloak.

Figures in cloaks are very rare in 28mm, alas. They might seem dull to many, but Perrys have now done some for Retreat from War and Peace………..huge conversion potential

sorry……….. "Wurttemburg" and "possible".

The snag is this. I convert many a figure and will show it here, but usually will check that with the manufacturer.

I converted two Gringo40s Mameluke trumpeters, but, in rotating their whole trunks, I did distort their trumpet arms. Largely fixed, but not as good as original. Collar is redone with greenstuff, but a bit crude.

The maker might think the originals were better (they were, mine are unique though). If I flogged these as my non specific work….up to the purchaser. Caveat Emptor.

If I flog these as Gringo40s figures, painted by me, for cash………that is different. I may have spoilt their work and damaged their reputation.

I thought these figures in cloaks were great and again, they inspired me.

I just wanted to remind folk how tricky it can now be……..
