"After experience gained in Yemen, Saudi says it is open to sending ground troops to Syria [Mosa'ab Elshamy/AP]Saudi Arabia is prepared to deploy ground troops to Syria to fight the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) if US-led coalition leaders agree to the offer. Saudi's air force has targeted ISIL with air strikes since the campaign began in Syria in September 2014, but the Gulf kingdom is now ready to provide ground forces to defeat the armed group, a military spokesman said on Thursday. "Today, the Saudi kingdom announced its readiness to participate with ground troops with the US-led coalition against ISIL, because we now have the experience in Yemen," Brigadier General Ahmed Asseri told Al Jazeera…" Full article here link Amicalement Armand |

Do not hold your breath they have been reluctant to go into Yemen next door and have tried to persuade Pakistan to do so. |

I heard this on CNN, the Turks are saying the same. Until I see it … I won't believe either of them. IF the Turks do go, I'd say they will give Daesh and AQ a rough time. After all they probably won't be too worried about CD, etc. … The Saudi's are worse fighters then the Iraqi's… It appears so … if that is possible ? |

The Saudis are great at killing unharmed civilians and mass bombing cities, but they still cant do anything when they come up against the tough hill men from the North of Yemen. |

Tough hill men… I imagine that everybody is plenty tough in Yemen. Reality is that Yemen is two countries with separate armies that never integrated. They should never have been forced to combine. One side has Iranian support and the other has Saudi/Arab support. Until both sides stop supplying their factions, they will keep fighting. |

Yes, the Saudis don't really appear to be very combat effective, in all I have seen and read in the media. They really have not seen combat since GWI ? And as noted, they really don't look like they are doing much effectively in Yemen. And yes, Yemen is like a proxy war between the Saudis and Persians, some could say. |

The Saudis might send their foreign legion (lots of Columbians from what I've heard). |

That would be interesting … they might have some former drug cartel members in the mix. They wouldn't burn Baghdadi at the stake. But staple his flayed face on a soccer ball … Then burn him with blow torches … |
