I was curius if there are any references to warriors and warfare in 19th century Indonesia/Dutch East Indies and Philippines. I can't seem to find much on insular Southeast Asian military history.

I believe somebody makes figures for the Dutch colonial forces. And Spanish-American War Spanish troops work fine, as do Moros.

Historian/sculptor/artist/author Greg Blake in Australia spent years collecting information on the Dutch Colonial wars in southeast Asia.

I keep hoping he will pull all of that information together into a book, and create some of his amazingly-good color illustrations to go along with it.

I have the Foundry book on Small Wars and Skirmishes, which gives good info on the Moro Wars involving the U.S., and The Aceh war. I'm not familiar with Mr. Blake's work, but I would like to see a book on the Dutch colonial wars in Indonesia. As a side note I'm interested in the various cultures and arts of the islands, but much of the detailed studies have been published in Dutch or Bahasa Indonesia.

Perhaps, if TMP has a national page for the Dutch, ask your question there. Most likely you'll have to go for a translated version of a Dutch history?

My one book written by a Philippino is a rather poorly written work and clearly and strongly slanted towards Catholicism but does give some insight into the hows and whys of the troubles USA got into once the PI became a "colony".

Good luck with your search.
