Those are beautiful! I'd get some but I don't have that kind of talent.

Lovely work. What do you charge?

whitejamest05 Feb 2016 9:46 a.m. PST

Beautiful work Julian, and they make a gorgeous scene together!

Excellent paint job; but the uniformity of the bases lets the ship models down. Have a look at some ariel photographs of tall ships cutting through the sea.

To be fair he could be using the Langton pre-molded bases. On the table you are not likely to be looking at them all in a line anyway.

As usual great work J.

Downright Beautiful!

MJS you are an inspiration, absolutely stunning work as usual.
Care to share your methods for rigging?

ModelJShip05 Feb 2016 4:39 p.m. PST

Thank you all your comments…

Now when I have a little more time I'll finish the second part of a tutorial where I will share with pictures assembly processes and rigging and running rigging.

Beautiful as always, I look forward to your rigging tutorial.

Admirable work indeed.
Without wishing to detract from that in any way, I do know what Cpt. Haddock means about the sea bases; one the hardest things to achieve convincingly on any ship model.
Along with MJS's work, I'm also a great admirer of J White's work and have always liked the way he does his sea bases, which I believe are Langton's; TMP link
An interesting comparison I think.

You play these, they should be in a museum

ModelJShip07 Feb 2016 10:36 a.m. PST

I only make these by commision. I dont know if my clients use them for playing or only colect…
