I was Shaken for awhile, I started to Retire but rallied but before I began to Rout. I fully expect to lead several more charges. |
Rudysnelson | 04 Feb 2016 11:26 p.m. PST |
Sadly I feel old everyday that I go to class and a bunch 18 to 26 year olds show up for class. Breaking an arm two weeks ago has not helped. Lol. My store partner is several years older than I am and has a lot more energy. Sigh. |
mumbasa | 04 Feb 2016 11:39 p.m. PST |
68 years young--retired for 5 1/2 years after teaching for 41 years--my wife and I watch a 5 1/2 year old and 3 year old grandkids-- yes, I am tired ;) |

GarrisonMiniatures | 05 Feb 2016 12:29 a.m. PST |
Yes, sort of, but still working… getting a couple of pensions, doing lots of hours and of course I did retire from Garrison. |
B6GOBOS | 05 Feb 2016 12:39 a.m. PST |
Got and early retirement and pension from my first career. Too young to sit around do back to work on second career. |

Sort of, lost my job in 2012 and at almost 58 no chance of getting another. Good job I saved whilst I was working as pension doesn't kick in for 2 more years. |
Bellbottom | 05 Feb 2016 4:50 a.m. PST |
Been retired for 14 months. To paraphrase Basil Fawlty, 'Work?, oh yes, I remember that' |
JimDuncanUK | 05 Feb 2016 4:51 a.m. PST |
I retired (early) in 2009, loving every minute of it. |
steamingdave47 | 05 Feb 2016 5:13 a.m. PST |
Just over three years since I left teaching after 43 years. Did some part-time work up until last summer, but now, at 68, free to play again! |
redbanner4145 | 05 Feb 2016 5:24 a.m. PST |
I only work part-time anymore. |
FusilierDan | 05 Feb 2016 5:43 a.m. PST |
Still working and will be for a least 10 more years. |
Murphy | 05 Feb 2016 5:56 a.m. PST |
I will never be able to retire…. |
Narratio | 05 Feb 2016 5:59 a.m. PST |
Getting close to the age but, like Murphy, my wife will not let me retire. Doesn't like me cluttering up the house. |
20thmaine | 05 Feb 2016 6:09 a.m. PST |
Not yet…too young. I really want the time….as long as I can have reasonable health as well…. |

I retired at 51… some 14 years ago. I loved my job but, I love my retirement SO much more! Save your money, invest wisely and….. get out as soon as you can! You only get just so many Saturdays. |
John Armatys | 05 Feb 2016 6:30 a.m. PST |
I retired at 56 at the end of 2012 and echo what skipper John said. I don't know how I ever found time for work. |
Frederick the Grape | 05 Feb 2016 6:34 a.m. PST |
63 and no hope of ever retiring since I have a special needs child and need the health care that my job provides. I'm envious of those who can afford to retire, but life is what it is and so I press on. Grape |
genew49 | 05 Feb 2016 6:39 a.m. PST |
I'm 66 and have been retired for 5 years. Worked as a consultant and adjunct faculty for 3 years, fully retired the last 2. Like some of the others an educator for over 40 years. |
Porthos | 05 Feb 2016 6:50 a.m. PST |
Yes. And this does not mean I do not work anymore, it just means I now do OTHER work ;-))). Painting (a bit for me, a larger number for others – makes it possible to buy even more figures), sometimes taking care of grandchildren (five, at the moment), reading (of course) and help others with information, and (unfortunately now ending) reading for(to?)children of fugitives for whom Dutch is a second language. For those who are not yet able to leave work: don't worry, you will be busy enough if you just want to do that ! |

John Treadaway | 05 Feb 2016 7:05 a.m. PST |
Depends on your definition of "retire". I got pensioned off from my last full time job after 27 years and decided to take my pension early from my previous (8 year) job at the same time so I'm getting two pensions which, of course, don't get close to my pre- retirement salary. So, do you mean "have I stopped working?". Sadly, no. John T Profession: graphic designer and writer. Position: unexpectedly available! |
Tom Reed | 05 Feb 2016 7:10 a.m. PST |
Been thinking more and more about retiring. Got a couple of years to go yet, I think. Already been told that I can still work at my job part time if I want. |
redmist1122 | 05 Feb 2016 7:55 a.m. PST |
Yes and No…I retired from the military after 21 years, then turned around and back working for the Fed Government. I'm about over the half way mark towards a second retirement…I really enjoy being a civilian employee! P. |
Timmo uk | 05 Feb 2016 8:02 a.m. PST |
No and no chance of ever retiring. Like most people of my generation we simply can't hope to build up the pension pots now required in the UK to enable full retirement. I have no idea what standard of living my generation will have in 20 years time. The answer is to have a job that you enjoy then it doesn't matter and I'm lucky in that I have that one sorted. |
galvinm | 05 Feb 2016 8:13 a.m. PST |
Yes. Forced into Military retirement after 24 years in 2006 (WOW, has it been almost 10 years), due to health issues. Best thing that ever happened to me. Got to know my kids real well while they finished school/College. I am my Granddaughters favorite adult. Probably because when Mommy and Daddy need something, Papa gets called. Spent 2 weeks taking her to her Kindermusik, and other classes a few days ago because Mommy's car was in the shop, and Daddy works an hour from home. I think it is also because, like most gamers, I have never quite turned into an adult, and have no plans to start now. I have all the time in the world to paint, etc., now. Other things just keep getting in the way. Granddaughter, hunting, fishing, travelling….. |
Wackmole9 | 05 Feb 2016 8:29 a.m. PST |
I'am semi retired. Sold my house off and paid off all my bills. Then I started a small business doing what I like to cover the bills. |

Yes. May go back to work part-time but would prefer not to return to my previous gig in the DOD and IC. I still have nightmares. |

Bob the Temple Builder | 05 Feb 2016 9:04 a.m. PST |
Made redundant and retired in 2001 … then set up an educational consultancy which I ran until 2013. Now been properly retired since 2015, and I am busier than I ever have been. |
KSmyth | 05 Feb 2016 9:36 a.m. PST |
Turned 60 in August, still have five more years in the teaching biz. Will be out with 39 years in the classroom. Am looking forward to it. |
