I bought some SHQ figures recently without knowing what they looked like as I also could not find any pictures. They are a bit smaller than my 1/72 plastics but lovely figures. Great service and quick delivery to South Africa. For my French gun crews and support weapons (60mm mortar, mg etc) I used Early War Miniatures. Very happy with them and their site has great pictures of their products. The lack of pictures on the SHQ site is a drawback but I was happy with the figures that I ordered. |

I search by company and product when I can't find photos and sometimes they come up on eBay or amazon. Per Jacques Early War Miniatures are very good. auction |

Tim, I have some SHQ French infantry figures, I can take some pictures of them if you like? I also have some Revell and PSC Germans for size comparison. The SHQ French are nicely detailed, however the weapons are realistic in that they are a tad thin. The metal is hard so they don't bend easily. |

How do those blitz figures match to AB? |

Pretty well, and for those wanting some nice winter Americans or FJ checkout Wartimes range, same sculptured apparently link There are some really nice figures in there, especially those with the hoods up on their parkas |

SHQ were really nice back in the day but now they don't work with anything and are invariably covered in excess metal. I have over 5000 figures but don't touch the SHQ ones any more, just their vehicles |

I got some SHQ BEF figures recently. I really like them, however they did take a lot of cleaning up. They fit well with the Battlefield/ Blitz BEF figures and they have a good range. The Blitz figures are much better but they've got a limited range so I definitely not throw away the SHQ figures. |

Blitz and AB match up perfectly both in height and girth, and even more importantly the weapons match up as well. |

SHQ are a lot smaller than AB but in the same realistic rather than cartoon style. The figures are always attractive. I have not encountered a 'flash' problem. They make good crews since they fit the vehicles more easily (and are really the only option with 1/76). I use SHQ, AB, Blitz etc – just not in the same unit.I even use the 'cartoon crowd if they have a unique subject (eg Britannia beach master team or Guards HQ. I have not done French armies but have recently researched (and decided on) EWM for that force. Note that Empress do French as well, complementing the EWM range with. It's the vehicles that drive me crazy – often just a little 'out' preventing smooth assembly. There can also be excess metal where a part should fit (eg all Sherman and many Churchill tanks). Having said that I have about a hundred – so the finished item is worth it! The vehicles are particularly appropriate if you want something robust but detailed that would be a bit fragile in another medium, for instance Churchill 'Funnies'. |
