So, I'm working on a miniatures project with my sculptor friend and we are currently working on a sort of alien confederation. As of now, two bipedal aliens have been sculpted, one of which is insectoid. They're pretty standard and familiar. Next up is a floating gas bag type alien, complete with rocket propulsion, plasma throwers and tentacles… Beyond that, I was really interested in what kind of aliens that the community wants to see. I'm willing to hear out any strange ideas that you guys have to offer. |

I want a rabid, psychotic Space hamster who likes to shoot things. |

Well, that's definitely a start. |

Squirrels. Definitely want militant, armed-to-their-buck-teeth squirrels. And yes, I mean it, as I will use them for sci-fi skirmish combat gaming in a New York Minute… Now, for more "serious" types of bizarre aliens, I recommend that MiB is a good place to start for ideas: link

I dig that furry cybernetic guy. |

Some different, non-bipedal aliens too, since those are so passe'. The Traveller Hivers certainly fit that bill. Not all have to be sentient, smart creatures. There are few options for sci-fi creatures, so we could use some alien carnivores, omnivores, herbivores, etc.. Note – could use them in 15mm/18mm too. |

Go read Schlock Mercenary. Talk to Howard Taylor about licensing. Go nuts. |

Non-sapient creatures to pad the bestiary, check. The figures are in 28mm+ because, well, that's what I want. But those scales aren't out of the question because I know that there's demand for it. |

Just throwing out some ideas: -Three legged Puppeteer like critters (from the Ring World books). -Jellyfish like creatures, except they float in air. -sponge like creatures, but they ride around in little fishbowl pods with Doc Oc type tentacles. -Crystalline creatures, because some of us like to paint flat surfaces. |

The jellyfish creatures are either going to be sculpted today or at the end of the month and I'm really excited for them. They're going to be the proud warrior race guys. |

"Floating gas bag alien" sounds promising. I'd be happy with any xenos that are nonhumanoid and not "bugs" (= biotech ravening horde aliens), really. I keep repeating this so often that I'm blue in the face. Finding inspiration or even concepts that you might be allowed to use is not massively difficult at places like DeviantArt for example. Start with, say, the Birrin and work your way out from there: link If you do make some, just be prepared to get an armchain biomechanist come along and explain how your xenos are unrealistic (whereas if you made catgrrl xenos with big boobies they'd be complete realistic*) and a bunch of folks not buying them because they can't relate to them (whereas they could really relate to some catgrrl xenos with big boobies*).
--- *) strawman arguments, insofar that "catgrr with big boobies" specifically rarely is explicitly mentioned as an alternative |

We already made them, Terrement. It seemed, to us, to be the most realistic and tasteful representation of extraterrestrial life. |

I always thought the Dralasites from Star Frontiers were cool. The Sathar too. Space Worms! |

I dig that furry cybernetic guy. I'm guessing he's a nod to this classic D-minus budget alien of cinema infamy:
Another take on that is the big furry space priate from a certain campy '60s sci-fi TV series:
@javelin98 And I say Merseians for the win!
And the Dirdir are no slackers either: link Leland R. Erickson Metal Express metal-express.net |

Converting these kooky aliens into something gritty seems like a fun challenge. |
