You may have seen the preview video of this battle earlier on TMP, but now you can read the AAR. Sorry, no video this time, just lots of pictures. Enjoy! link |

Very Nice AAR and Pics! some comment on the senario… I see you have Gudin arriving, when Historically he did not to any affect and there seems to not be any Austrian 4th Corp tie'ing up Friant, as did Historical( "well somewhat"- well 4th Korp had the opportunity but blundered it). Therefore, its seems waited in Favor to the French before it started. These Divisions are very strong and equivalent to an Austrian Korps ea. I have played it historical with the Austrians having the Initiative on the first turn. The french have still won 2 out of 3 with just St Hiliare and Friant + some cav. The lost was when I managed to get 4th Korps forward along with the "gift" from the player commanding Friant… of Friant trying to go to wide to the east to attempt to out flank the Austrian position. Just saying MG |

The scenario is from Blunders on the Danube. Regarding Gudin, it says "historically these units did not participate in the battle, but they were nearby and their presence had to be allowed for." There is a random time delay on when he can show up. The same goes with the Austrian grenadiers, who would have joined the fight (in my version), but the battle was already lost by the time they started toward the front. The Austrian forces represented in the scenario: Vukassovich (Advanced Guard), Lusignan (1st division), St Julien (2nd division), Bieber's brigade, the reserve artillery and Charles with the 1st reserve corps of grenadiers. I did not find the scenario weighted in favor of the French. If Bieber's brigade could have deployed before Friant reached him, I think the Austrians carry the day. Even with Bieber's disaster, the white coats still kept the French bottled up until Austrian morale failed. I don't critique the scenarios, I just play 'em. |
