I wanted some standard bearers and musicians for my Franco Prussian War armies that I am building. These are some simple conversions of the S range recasts which are available.

I love the "old school" charm of these posts. Block painted figures mounted on green painted bases with no flocking. Great tips for converting the old Minifig "S" range figures. I've done the standard bearer conversion myself in the past. Great tip on making drums.

Many thanks for all the comments, glad you liked them. Having now used the wooden dowl for the drums a few times I would recommend it as the simplest method. No waiting for materials to harden. You can either paint the rim, or just superglue a thin strip of card to the top and bottom to represent the drum rim. The dowl is cheap and you can use the excess to make measuring sticks, ships masts etc 5-6mm thick dowl is perfect.
