Bonjour and greetings from the centre of France.

Not had a solo game for many years but needs must so got my Bavarians out to have a go at taking the bridge and town of Abensberg circa 1809.

Not really a historically accurate orbat as it was just me making sure that I don't forget the rules!

I should really have thought more carefully about assaulting head-on and the clever cavalry flank attack just didn't work either.

The river, although fordable, unformed any troops crossing it which was a big problem.

Maybe if I'd deployed my other 2 Bavarian Brigades it might have made the difference?!

I hope that you can see the piccies and enjoy them.

Cheers,

Paul

Fantastic! And what a great – looking game room! How big is that table? I'm envious!

Bonjour,

Thanks for your comments.

Hafen von Schlockenberg – this table is about 2 metres by 4 metres. You need it for bigger games. Because I'm lucky and greedy I have a second table the same size and a third one which is 2 metres square!

I was pleased that the Foundry and Perry Bavarians and the Perry and Elite Austrians went well together.

Even the Essex Austrian limbers and the old Connoisseur French limbers standing in for Bavarians looked OK.

I do have some more Bavarian limbers which are in the lead pile.

Back to painting Westfalia 1813 Saxons and Warlord Peninsular Riflemen.

Cheers,

Paul

Great stuff, and I always enjoy an AAR where there are limbers on the table.

Somehow it just seems to complete things, even though I have always found them to be the least satisfying to paint…

Very nice to see some Austrians with helmets and some Grenzers to boot. Well done!
