Has anyone played a raid during the AWI that had the British/Hessian forces go to a farm for the purposes of seizing livestock and crops? This was a common occurrence in NJ in early 1777 and other places and times as well. I'm looking to do this at the skirmish level. What type of rules are used to indicate the seizing of livestock, etc…? I would like to be creative but don't want to reinvent the wheel. |

Muskets & Tomahawks will work nicely for that. |

I have done raiding scenarios for AWI, FIW and Napoleonic where the goals have been everything from rescuing prisoners to stealing cattle to cutting out a brig-sloop. For each I have used Sharp Practice which I find plays very well. |

I've run a few Sharp Practice raid games also. Rules work quite well for that sort of scenario. Mark |

The Sword and the Flame would also work well. For just about any rules, I would suggest that an animal or a pile of provisions could be considered "captured" if touched by a figure during the movement phase. He could then start to lead the animal or carry a certain amount of provisions beginning the next turn as long as he wasn't being fired upon or attacked in close combat. Movement rate should be inhibited as well. Jim |

The Perfect Captain's Patriots! rules have a cattle raid scenario. And they are free. |

It's on my list to do for TSATF. As soon as I get the Philadelphia Light Horse dismounted dudes done. I already have the Associators done and have tons of militia. On the British side I have jaegers, LI, regulars, wagons, oxen etc. I doubt I will need the Eureka string quartet. |

Oh come on, how can you have a raid without a string quartet? :) |

Somebody must be playing the stirring backround music, surely why not the Eureka string quartet?! |

Can you suggest any Haydn quartets suitable for a miserable New Jersey winter? |

I don't know all the rules so I don't if any of them address the OP's question but I think you will have to "reinvent" your wheel. Simple to do, though. But do think about having, losing, and then regaining – and impact on ability to move and take cover. And, as always, there will be a player who try mightily to mess with the rules. |
