Total Biscuit more or less demands you play this game, go so far as to say if you don't like this game you are a traitor to humanity!

Yea highly excited for this. The 90' version was of the greatest games of all time, but the 2013(?) reboot was also an extremely good game, and this one looks to be even better.

Huge fan of the reboot. I'm excited for this as well.

Haven't checked yet but I hope it will play on my existing system.

It can't handle Far Cry 4 or Fallout 4 so I'll probably need to dish out for a new one.

The interesting part of XCom 2 is that they completely threw away the results of XCom 1. You LOST the battle for Earth, so XCom is now a bunch of insurgents.

Thanks for the reminder Gunfreak – pre-ordered and downloading now – roll on Friday for release!

I'm all in!

@lion In the Stars

From what I've hard they've basing XCom 2 on the results of all the games played on 'ironman' mode. a majority of those game ended in a loss.

No console version so no dice, unless they port this one to Linux, like they did the previous game.

Spudeus03 Feb 2016 3:23 p.m. PST

I've played through the previous game a few times, this is definitely on my must-buy list. I hope at some point they do an X-Com where you get to play the aliens. . .

There will be mods on release day.

And modders will have access to the same tools as the game designer.

Yea I was fairly surprised by this. While I didn't think we'd get a reprise of Terror from the Deep, I kind of expected a sequel to be a follow up mission to an alien world or something. But what we got instead looks PLENTY interesting. :)

Not totally unprecedented though; the entire Warcraft universe is based on the idea that the 'bad guys' won Warcraft I.

I rather liked TFTD. Sure, it's more of the same, but at least the tactical missions were totally different.

wminsing04 Feb 2016 3:00 p.m. PST

Oh I liked TFTD as well, it was just tweaked enough (multiple alien species in certain missions, etc) to provide a fresh challenge. But I was pretty sure the new game would kick things off in a different direction.

Played 5 hours, so far so good, except almost all missions are timed it forces you to rush… runs it for me and alot of others.

Mine won't start! I'm probably due for a video card upgrade. . .

My god the epicness

A decent way into my first try, my base was forced to land.

I had to sally out to destroy some dampening device, so we can take off again, at the same time i had to protect the ship from a massive continuous onslaught of enemies.

For over an hour i fought, trying to find an opertunity to go out and destroy the dampening thing.

The sent mechs at me, officers, ninjas and cannon fodder.

I finally manage to send out 3 of my troops. They completed the objective, but two got put down by the ninjas on the way back. And a third got gunned down as he tried to ger back to the ship.

I lost 4 out of 8..

2 captured, 2 killed.

I love it. I've played to failure once and am on my 2nd campaign now. I like the new Strategic mode. It's more complex. I also like the sudden death endings. One of my troopers was captured. I hope there is a rescue mission planned. Perhaps trading intel in the blackmarket will produce her location!

While the aliens are more powerful, right off the bat, so are the the humans. The ranger might be over powered. I'll keep my mouth shut since I have no idea where the mid-game combat goes. Alien MECs have just started to show up so I may need every advantage I can get.
