"Opposition groups boycott meetings at Geneva talks in protest at Russian bombardment to support regime advances Syrian regime troops were last night poised to score a decisive blow against rebel forces by surrounding Aleppo and severing their supply lines. A wide-ranging regime offensive under the cover of intense Russian aerial bombardment left government soldiers within striking distance of Nubul and al-Zahraa, two regime-held towns north-east of the city. If they connect up with the regime troops and fighters from Hizbollah and other Iranian-sponsored Shia militias who have been helicoptered in over the past two years, they will have cut the main artery of rebel support from Turkey to Aleppo…"
